Musicophile, thanks for the info. I bought Audirvana yesterday....before the price went up. Also, I appreciated James1776 advice too, however I think I will stick to something that is Mac oriented now, as I much prefer Mac to PC.

Thanks One and a half. I have a Korg MR-1000, so I can do DSD now. I have a Bryston BD-1 DAC that I am happy with, but it does not do DSD. I probably won't buy another DAC for awhile. Also, I find DSD does not need a DAC as much as most digital audio requires. The issue now is what basic software to use to manage all the files and then what second software to use. I guess from what I understand now, I will have to use Itunes. Do you recommend Pure Music or Audirvana? I understand that Pure Music is good value for the money. I will do some research on Audirvana.
  4. I am a traditional two channel audiophile. I wish to archive a substantial part of my collection (lps, tapes, cds) onto my Mac computer. I want to be careful and select the best software from the beginning, also sound quality is of paramount importance to me. Several questions: 1. Should I use Songbird or Itunes to manage my collection? I will not be using the Itunes store nor do I presently use Itunes; 2. Once I get organized, I will likely use a second software program like Pure Music, Amara etc.. What second program works best with Songbird? I assume that they all have been designed to work well with Itunes; 3. What programs in #'s 1 and 2 work best with DSD? Thank you.
