  1. I think it might be better as voltage regulation will now be fully addressed by the motherboard manufacturer. The noise depends on the layout of the mobo and how "low noise"the VRegulators will be. The PSU manufacturer has a much more simple job now to only provide 12V, hopefully they will choose for a better low noise output than previously as it is so much easier to provide only one Voltage with more amperes But in the end, why should they? Only audiophile criteria ask for the best low noise. Unless a clever manufacturer discover the market of DIY enthusiasts making their own music server. Still that is a very very small niche in the market of normal PC. The smaller the niche the more expensive the products for it will be. SO a mobo may cost 600€ and up and that will be on the cheap side
  2. I use two isolation transformers as well, but is easy to make them balanced as well that will also reduce noise Advantages of Balanced Power Transformer Attenuated power line noise. Earth loop elimination. Reduction of radiated fields from power cords. Reduced interference between equipments. Elimination of reactive current in the earth wire. ...
  3. Regarding the length of a fiber optical cable in my high resolution open baffle system With DEQX (modded) active crossovers my music server was a JPlay ( by Marcin) advised board and components and a PCIe slot with fiber USB out and external power supply. Used A SR Paul Hynes 5v for it. I bought it with a supplied 10 mtr optical cable used by the company of the optical USB card itself while I needed, well 20 cm would do. It sounded transparent and musical. The rolled (or coiled?) 10 mtr optical fiber wire tucked behind my stereo setup ( Jadis tube amps heavily modded by Joe Rasmussen in AU) bothered me. SO i bought a 1mtr version and to my surprise it sounded slightly but discernible better, quieter. I was surprised I cant explain it (yet). So i proudly claim I agree with Adrian and trust my ears
  4. According to a big post over 500 posts in " A novel way to massively improve the SQ of computer audio streaming" ( audiophilestyle.com) it is the new best sounding OS on a pc based system for a lot of users. Much better than windows server or audiolinux. It is also more friendly to install and use, more friendlier than for instance audioLinux I use as a server a dedicated PC with high end power supply and further modifications to make it sound better Just read the link, no harm done https://euphony-audio.com/ :
  5. A question Is the UltraRendu compatible with the euphony ( Linux based) OS on the server?
  6. There are a lot of experienced DIY hobbyists reading this topic. Which knowledge can be shared so more readers can replicate the Evox mod by doing it themselves? IS it somehow related to the power?
  7. thx I am in the setting up phase of the UltraRendu with an INtel NUC as server based on the o so many (different) real deep good advises in the thread while having a moderate budget to make the best of it.
  8. Hi GG (noob question) Do you use a tablet or smartphone as a GUI to control what to play? If yes what app? If not how do you enter your playlist or enter yr library?
  9. I don t see the 1800 US$ Ansuz A2 ethernet cable to be in the same league as the anti usb cable. I will not be surprised the Ansuz A2 ethernet cable needs a more ehh refined usb cable? Nice DAC by the way
  10. hi Mourip. the bridging is how this thread started, the name "A novel way to massively improve the SQ of computer audio streaming" was referring to better sounding bridging. Yes I and dozens of others did it like you mention. I bridged one NIC ( Ethernet port) of the NUC is with one NIC of the JCAT FEMTO Ethernet card. The mobo NIC goes to my router for wifi and to contact my android phone with the controlling player to steer the server. It is possible for Roon too, although it is one of their later developments. Maybe even started because of this "world famous"thread, "
  11. Hi Larry I cant help you. I don't do upsampling. I don't do NAS My endpoint is a modest modded UltraRendu. My NUC is the server. 7th generation I5 I want to keep it as simple and pure as possible. My DAC is a DEQX HDP 4 192 khz at the moment W2016* GUI + AO 2.2 on a 32 Gig Supermicro SATA DOM (own Hynes 5v psu ) (is not an SSD), bridged Ethernet ports with JCAT FEMTO netcard and state of the art DC power for each component + DC silver quad Litz wire with extra shields * because of this forum I will try Audiolinux + bridged NICS + Tidal+ own files on a separated powered USB stick because of Audiolinux I was worried about the pops remark Forgot to mention tX-USBultra, and Uptone isoregen between UltraRendu and DAC (DEQX)
  12. " But Jussi's image wins on performance for me - when playing new tracks there are pops just at the beginning of tracks with Audiolinux (and nearly every Linux distro I've had running NAA before). "bold added This rather alarming for me. Do more audiolinux users have these pops or clicks with teh beginning of a new track?
