  1. I’d try to wait for the inevitable 2-Qute-2 (or 3Qute, or whatever it will be named!). Rumours are suggesting it *may* be announced in January next year. Maybe get something decent but relatively cheap in the meantime (the new Project pre box S2 DAC?) to tide you over until there’s firm news about the 3-Qute. Nothing worse than buying a Dac and it’s replacement cones out only a short time later. John.

    Audirvana Plus 2.6

Hi there. A quick call for help. Does anybody still have the original installation file for either Audirvana 2.5.4 (or 2.6?). 2.5.4 was my favourite version overall (for sound, and I prefer to display by Artist, not Album Artist in album view) and as I cannot afford to upgrade to V3 for now, would prefer to get back to that version for now. Many thanks John.

Thanks for your reply Damien. I tried all the above with no luck. I then tried version 2.5.4 (that had the Artist field) and all was displayed exactly how I wanted it. I then tried 2.6.2 again, clearing all sort fields again. Then I selected Genre as the first. Fine. Album Artist as the second. Fine. Then Year, and that's where things got disorganised. It seems like the Year field is causing the trouble, and perhaps 'jumping the queue' in importance when with the 'old' Audirvana, it displayed with Genre / Artist / Year perfectly, and in that order of sorting. For the time being, I'll stick with version 2.5.4. John

Is it possible to add 'Artist' back to the 'Show View Options' pull-down menu? My collection is all over the place now since this option mysteriously disappeared in 2.6.2 onwards. I do not wish to sort by 'Album Artist'.
  7. Hi Damien. Thanks for replying. The path is /volumes/Media/iTunes - with Media being the name of my external USB harddrive, and iTunes the folder within it. No other music folders. The harddrive is connected directly to my iMac via usb. I've tried deleting and rebuilding the database files but the indexing problem remains. The Audirvana database file location is on the iMac. Should I try changing the location of that to the external hardrive too? Thanks. John
  8. Yes that works for me too, but as you say it's not a permanent solution. I wish I could remember which version I was using that didn't have this problem. It wasn't too long back either.
  9. I don't do any editing. I mean when I start Audirvana it often starts indexing when I haven't done or changed anything. Whilst it's doing this it's VERY hard to find an album as the screen keeps 'jumping' to the most looked at genre field, so you have to be quick to start playing something. It's fine when the syncing has stopped. I think I'm going back to iTunes now to be honest - I just want something that works well, and as I use Apple lossless and mainly CD bitrate rips I'm not really losing any quality that I can easily discern, or usability.
  10. I believe you can only turn off the iTunes syncing, which I don't use anyway. I use the recommended folder sync. option.
  11. There seem to be so many Audirvana threads here now I hope I'm putting this into the correct one (!). Audirvana is driving me nuts at the moment with it often starts indexing the library (even when I haven't changed anything!) when I start the program. I've tried deleting the database and starting from scratch, but this is a pain as I have around 2TB music and it takes a long time to rebuild the database, and after a short while I still get that bloody blue line indicating it's indexing again when I start the program. The second annoyance is when it's doing this indexing, it will keep flipping open the last opened genre 'field'. So trying to look for something you wish to play when the screen keeps jumping back to the last opened 'field' whilst indexing is incredibly frustrating. To be honest I find myself going back to plain iTunes more and more now as it just works without any of these problems. I had these problems when I first purchased Audirvana over two years back and I find it stunning they haven't been fixed yet! I love its sound when all is well, but these little bugs are driving me away from it. Are they ever going to be fixed? - John
  12. Fabulous news indeed! Thanks Damien!
  13. Looks great! My biggest gripe with the existing remote app is that VERY frequently I have to stop & restart it (the double-click on the home button, and closing the app) on my iPad Air 2 (iOS9.2.1) to get it to work and not freeze after I go back to it from surfing the net for a while or something. Drives me crazy as otherwise it's damned near perfect Hope that is fixed in the new remote app. - John
  14. Thanks for your reply & helpful comments David. Yes I tried that but no dice. Uninstalled programs I'd put on since (approximately) the time the troubles started. Noted the times of several dropouts & consulted consoles log files - no obvious repeated cause. Reinstalled Audirvana. No cure. Tried iTunes and I'd also still get the random drop outs. Did some reading about random USB problems involving El Capitan and realised I'm far from alone, so made the decision to reinstall Yosemite. Glad I did and (without tempting fate) all seems well again. I wasn't impressed with other unrelated glitches I was also getting with El Cap, so in a way glad this has prompted me to go back a generation of OS. Cheers, John
  15. Over the past couple of days I've started to notice random drop outs when listening to music via Audirvana 2.2.4. They last around 3 seconds only, and there's approximately 3-4 per hour. I haven't changed anything knowingly, so am a little perplexed. I need to try playing audio via iTunes next and see if I get the same pauses just using that I guess. System specs are a late 2014 5K iMac with 32GB memory and using USB. I kept console going and added a marker as soon as there was a pause, which resulted in this little lot of information. Can anybody see anything that might 'jump out' and signal a reason for these drop outs? Many thanks - John 18/11/2015 16:47:52.144 WindowServer[150] CGXDisplayDidWakeNotification [6370611602511]: posting kCGSDisplayDidWake 18/11/2015 16:47:52.144 WindowServer[150] handle_will_sleep_auth_and_shield_windows: Deferring. 18/11/2015 16:47:52.273 identityservicesd[349] <IMMacNotificationCenterManager: 0x7f826a61c930>: notification observer: com.apple.iChat notification: __CFNotification 0x7f826a5021d0 {name = _NSDoNotDisturbDisabledNotification} 18/11/2015 16:47:52.274 imagent[385] <IMMacNotificationCenterManager: 0x7fb7006226e0>: notification observer: com.apple.FaceTime notification: __CFNotification 0x7fb700538590 {name = _NSDoNotDisturbDisabledNotification} 18/11/2015 16:47:52.274 imagent[385] <IMMacNotificationCenterManager: 0x7fb7006226e0>: NC Disabled: YES 18/11/2015 16:47:52.287 imagent[385] <IMMacNotificationCenterManager: 0x7fb7006226e0>: DND Enabled: NO 18/11/2015 16:47:52.287 imagent[385] <IMMacNotificationCenterManager: 0x7fb7006226e0>: Updating enabled: NO (Topics: ( )) 18/11/2015 16:47:52.287 identityservicesd[349] <IMMacNotificationCenterManager: 0x7f826a61c930>: NC Disabled: NO 18/11/2015 16:47:52.291 identityservicesd[349] <IMMacNotificationCenterManager: 0x7f826a61c930>: DND Enabled: NO 18/11/2015 16:47:52.291 identityservicesd[349] <IMMacNotificationCenterManager: 0x7f826a61c930>: Updating enabled: YES (Topics: ( "com.apple.private.alloy.icloudpairing", "com.apple.private.alloy.continuity.encryption", "com.apple.private.alloy.continuity.activity", "com.apple.ess", "com.apple.private.ids", "com.apple.private.alloy.phonecontinuity", "com.apple.madrid", "com.apple.private.ac", "com.apple.private.alloy.phone.auth", "com.apple.private.alloy.keychainsync", "com.apple.private.alloy.fmf", "com.apple.private.alloy.sms", "com.apple.private.alloy.screensharing", "com.apple.private.alloy.maps", "com.apple.private.alloy.thumper.keys", "com.apple.private.alloy.continuity.tethering" )) 18/11/2015 16:47:52.291 identityservicesd[349] <IMMacNotificationCenterManager: 0x7f826a475280>: notification observer: com.apple.iChat notification: __CFNotification 0x7f826a52b6d0 {name = _NSDoNotDisturbDisabledNotification} 18/11/2015 16:47:52.294 identityservicesd[349] <IMMacNotificationCenterManager: 0x7f826a475280>: NC Disabled: NO 18/11/2015 16:47:52.297 identityservicesd[349] <IMMacNotificationCenterManager: 0x7f826a475280>: DND Enabled: NO 18/11/2015 16:47:52.297 identityservicesd[349] <IMMacNotificationCenterManager: 0x7f826a475280>: Updating enabled: YES (Topics: ( "com.apple.madrid" )) 18/11/2015 16:47:55.032 Console[584] Marker - 18 Nov 2015, 16:47:55
