  1. www.sunaudio.com , has Purifi 4 inch and Bliesma tweeters, good design if you like to tweak to get most out of it I think. You will also need a dsp, 4 channels of amplification and a sub.
  2. Nice pro audio example indeed, as a high end audio example I came along this one recently: https://sunaudio.com/products/purified-4-modular-active-loudspeakers
  3. Hi, I do have an Audiolab M-ONE integrated amplifier with DAC, and I do experience an input sample rate problem with it, probably USB driver related. My setup: W10 PRO computer foobar 2000 musicplayer Audiolab M-ONE (via USB) The issue is that the display (and the driver software) shows the input sample rate as configured in the Windows Sound Settings, and not as it actually is being played. Thus when playing a 192kHz file, while Windows Sound Panel is on 96kHz, it shows 96kHz. I have searched the web and found the following, quite similar, problem: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware-winpc/external-dac-device-being-used-by-another/53dc3a05-ec48-406a-94f3-634746f25983 And followed the suggested solution: https://windowsreport.com/driver-signature-enforcement-windows-10/ That did change some things, but is ustable (does not recognise USB device), and the input sample rate problem is not solved. Thus at the moment I have to switch the sample rate in the Windows Sound Panel each time when I play a file with a different sample rate, which is quite annoying. Does anyone here have an idea what causes this problem? And how to fix this? Thanks in advance.
  4. Best compromise in my opinion therefore is a nearfield listening setup in a seperate small room. At 1.5 - 2 meter listening distance you can listen at audiophile volume levels without disturbing anyone. I do have have the following system in a 16 m2 room: KEF X300A with sub out mod KEF Q400b sub Dirac Live RCS Comfort chair Flat response from 30Hz up, and I enjoy it much more than any system I ever have had or listened before, including my current living room system. Total system price (without source component) about 1.800 EUR so it's affordable for the middle class either.
  5. I would recommend to at least try Dirac Live software for room and speaker correction, this is a very effective tool to prevent listening fatique, which is in many cases caused by wrong tonal balance. And regarding the near field monitors, the KEF X300A are excellent, especially with electronic music, sub out mod (and corrected with Dirac).
  6. A pair of studio monitors could indeed do the job, I would also consider the KEF X300A's with sub out mod, they have an integrated USB DAC, volume control, and do not distort when opening the volume to 100%. Add a sub and you have a really very nice full range active and minimalistic system. Save some money to add Dirac Live as a future upgrade.
  7. I did have BM5's for quite a long time as a second system in my almost similar size small listening room. They are great and indeed offer very much value for money, precise imaging, a lot of details, open midrange and smooth highs. They go very deep for their size / volume, but it is not a tight and impactful bass response (which I prefer). But I also found them a bit boring so I recently changed to another system. I can't comment on the other models, no experience.
  8. It is possible to add a subwoofer output with a modification, although it is quite expensive due to shipping.
  9. There is a modded version with subwoofer outputs available of the KEF X300's.
  10. There are modified X300A's available with subwoofer outputs: KEF X300A with subwoofer output – Sun Audio Add a subwoofer and Dirac Live or some other room correction, and you have a very nice 3-way active system.
  11. A friend recently bought the following setup: Audioquest DragonFly USB DAC Dynaudio BM5 MKIII (active monitors) + optional Dynaudio Volume Box Dirac Live software for room correction I do not know the system price but he is very happy with it and I can not blame him, it's also a very lean & clean system.
  12. I said yes and I am glad I did.
  13. I can recommend to get a free trial of Dirac Live and when you like it add a sub. With Dirac Live a sub will integrate seemless and you do not have to worry abouth your neighbours while enjoying a more spacious soundstage and deeper and cleaner bass with the sub.
  14. My Rottweiler (a real softy) starts crying like a wolf when playing "The Dawn" by Osibisa, he starts with it @ 0:39 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkFWoGIdFRE
  15. I know from experience that it is transferable.
