  1. I have the same view on the 509X vs. 509Z. Good to hear that it's turned out great for you since getting the X. And thanks for the thread update, it always great when someone follows up late on.
  2. It's unbelievable, I just tried googling the same stuff as before, but I typed "wheel+native English speaker" instead of "rim" and I've found everything I needed. I know I risk sinking my own "wheel" help thread on am audio forum, but I couldn't help it... I guess I fell victim to the mainstream talk of "rims" and that wheel just doesn't jump off the page from anywhere I'd found. However, thank you all for the correction, I'm sure describing the problem correctly will aid in solving said problem. I will give the pistonheads link a try, that seems like a good spot to check. And please keep the advice and what not coming, this is all new to me and I don't know what I don't know, so I'm bound to be slowing myself down with it.
  3. I joined before you, I've got a handle on what this site is about. There was a new sub forum created a little while back called the Objective-Fi, maybe you can take your on topic posts over there? Check out the title of the thread and the recurring theme in my posts.
  4. After you mentioned the back spacing, I found some more calculators and I found out: Stock Rims - 21" 9.0J H2 ET +45.5 --> Back spacing = 6.79" Target Rims - 22" 10.0J H2 back spacing = 6.79" --> Offset = 32.77mm I think that's an important one to know, like you were saying. I think it's still "ignoring" the tire width, as I have also "learned" that a given rim/wheel can fit a range of tire widths, so you've still got to account for how much rubber is beyond the rim. Where I'm sitting now from the stock info is: 9.0" wide wheel = ~228.6mm 265mm wide tire --> 265-228.6 = 36.4mm/2 = +18.2mm extra rubber out each side of the rim/wheel So going to the target rims and new tire combo, that might be like: 10.0" wide wheel = ~ 285mm wide tire --> 285-254 = 31mm/2 = +15.5mm extra rubber out each side of the rim/wheel Seems to roughly check out, but that absolute 5.7mm gap might need to be accounted for in offset. That's not much, a 1/4", but I'd prefer to just understand the situaiton and how the numbers all move around, then decide whether it matters of not. Anyway, that's sorta where I am now. I'd love to find a rim/wheel forum to discuss this stuff, I'm sure there's a bit more of a step-by-step ot figuring it out.
  5. [wrong thread] I won't be updating this thread anymore, I've moved to the new one in the General Discussion forum:
  6. Well, Li Auto/Lixiang is only Chinese and only in mainland China at the moment, so there's definitely not going to be a following anywhere in English. But I'm not looking for that anyway, I'm just looking for some rim junkies that can help me get through the process. Since the original post, I have found the current rim specs: 21" 9.0J H2 ET +45.5 So they're 9 inches wide, and have a positive 45.5mm offset. I checked some calculators and I can maintain the internal spacing to the frame with a positive 35.5mm offset when I increase the tire width from the stock 265mm to 285mm. For the bolt pattern, it's 5-bolt, but I haven't confirmed the spacing yet. I don't think it's anything unique because there are other Li Auto SUVs with aftermarket rims already. Then finally, there are tons of job shops here and lots of good quality aluminum stock, so it's common to buy made to order rims here for a good price. There's not a big scene for them, but with ~1.5bn people, the manufacturers don't need one to still catch enough business. I follow what you're advising and I appreciate the help. I'm really starting from scratch on this one. For the BBK, I've also found those on other Li Auto SUVs, but I know I've got to get those r specs and then find out the inner dimensions to settle it.
  7. That was funny, but that's the issue I'm running into. The BMW forums is about BMWs. The Volkswagen forums are about Volkswagen. But where are the guady rim forums? That just talk rims and rim tech?? I can only think the tuner scene might be the place to ask?? Anyway, that's exactly what wound me up here.
  8. I started this thread over in the Q&A forum, but I think this is actually a better spot for it so I've copied over a few of the posts and will continue from here: Alright, I'm Canadian, but my family lives in China full-time. We've been here for a few years, but we just bought a new SUV from a new domestic brand called Li Auto, the model is called the L9. It's a full-size SUV, similar to the BMW X7 or Mercedes GLS 450. We got the dark grey model, partly silver rims, coffee interior. It comes with 21" rims, riding on 265/45-R21 rubber on both the front and back. The stock rims are alright, but I want to get something else. I'll go with 21" or maybe 22" rims, depending on what I find out about aftermarket rims, offset, and tire width. Depending on those, I might increase the tire width to 285-295, or I might keep it the stock 265. I also want to look at getting a BBK (Big Brake Kit), but that depends on the rims. The problem is, I've avoided the aftermarket rim topic for basically ever. I love cars and have been driving since my 16th birthday, but I have just stuck with cars, specs, engines, and aftermarket rubber, never crossing over to rims. The big issue, for what I do know about finding this stuff out, is that Li Auto doesn't have its own English forum like VW or BMW does. So I have no idea where to discuss the specifics. Can anyone recommend a couple "open" car forums where I can talk about the rims and get advice about changing some of the figures? Thanks.

  11. @The Computer Audiophile I might have missed it somewhere, but could you move this thread to the General forum? I don't think this is the best spot for it and maybe someone will get into talking about something in it later. Thanks.

  13. I also wonder what happened to Jay Luong and all of Audio Bacon. I reached out via their site email/contact form about 4-5 months ago, but never heard back.
  14. Wow, that's quite the current stable. And you used to(?) have a DAC8DSD too, right? What comments can you share on the 2/3 DACs so far? I really wondered how the HA200 might compare to the stand alone DAC200.
