  1. Perhaps the best option would be to use the pc only to select the music and let the renderer do the work, that would take the pc out of the equation and probably give me the best SQ. The only problem is that Roon will not work on the MSB renderer, as yet! Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  2. I am trying to get a Ethernet cable and use the renderer input on the select 2, that should take the pc out of the direct loop of the music. If I go Melco out through a switch to the DAC and use J river to select the tracks? This may give me an idea if it is the USB causing the problem. Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  3. USB to the Select 2 Sent from my SM-N930F using Computer Audiophile mobile app
  4. I have just installed the Intel NUC 6670HQ with a 1 TB SSD and eight GB of RAM.I'm using this on my system which consists of a pair of Bowers and Wilkins Nautilus loudspeakers being driven by 4 Jeff Rowland 625 S2 amplifiers, fed by the MSB select 2 DAC. I am using the Melco A1 as a NAS. Earlier I was using a Qsonix music server using a coaxial digital cable into the DAC.. Using the new combination I find whilst I have increased detail and resolution, the overall presentation of the music sounds thin and not involving. I was wondering if anybody has had any experience using the new Intel NUC as a music server with a USB out into the DAC. Is it possible that the USB out,, or the circuit on the Intel is not suitable for high-end music reproduction? Any suggestions or information in this direction would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Thank you tranz and junker, for your help. It was just a silly mistake on my part. I had the midi setup wrong and had the msb selected in midi . Moving the setting did the trick now i have DSD !! Thanks again.
  6. Thanks for your response, I did try that but it did not work. I am using a SR USB activ se cable into the MSB , which has the USB2 input.
  7. I was wondering if anyone is listening to DSD files on a MSB Analog DAC, using a Mac mini? I have bought A+, JRMC19,Amarra( which I know wont do native DSD) and pure music. Whilst all the programs are working perfectly, I just can't get DFF and DFS files to playback in any of the three programs. They show that they are playing , but there is no sound. As the DAC is capable of DSD I was wondering what I may be doing wrong. I am using Mavericks. I have tried going thru the menus, but no luck.
  8. I am considering building a server with the following parts: 1) Chassis :- Cooler Master N200 2) Intel Core i5 4130T 3) Air Cooler 4) Z87 Gryphon 5) 16GB - Corsair 6) Silverstone Fanless PSU 7) 128GB Samsung SSD 8) Viewsonic 22" Touch Screen Would greatly appreciate comments and observations on this build. Has anyone put together a similar config, are there suggested changes. Will upgrade the case soon.
  9. The dat when opened in from the backup files looks like this: The song info can be read? also how do we get the cover art?
  10. Thanks for your reply, their system is an embedded windows XP based system. Can the files with metadata be transferred if recorded in Flac or WAV format? that would be great.
  11. I have the same experience. No response.
  12. Did you get any joy from the person who sold you the Qsonix?
  13. I understand that Qsonix, who made a great music server, has finally shut its doors. Has anyone got any ideas as to how to be able to move music from the backups of the 205/210 servers onto another server, with the cover art and title meta data intact ? many hours of work went into building almost 2 TB of flac music. What server would be recommended with similar ease of use and audio quality?
