  1. Great thanks. Another question. I'm using a Mac. Do you have any experience with the inputs on the Dac? I'm currently using a mini to toslink, through the headphone jack. It feels a bit weird to use the little headphone jack. I'm getting 96kh out of the Mac (it's limit) so that's not a concern, and currently it's my limit and won't be changing the computer or source anytime soon. I've heard about the SPIDF converter. Any thoughts pertaining which input sounds best on the Rega. PS. I love the sound of this thing. Thought of selling and "upgrading" to a newer dac, but I have a feeling it's a case of grass is greener. I think all the headphone guys are missing out on this baby.
  2. Can you also provide a step-by-step, preferably video, on how to make this mod. I’ve never pulled apart a component and it would REALLY help. I’d love to try it. And links to the proper items to purchase would be great.
  3. Indydan did you make these mods? If so what were your results?
  4. I have the previous version, the Rega Dac. Do these mods apply to it too?
  5. What reason do you use Unicode UTF-8? Is it dependent on compatibility with devices/software? Would like more info on what the differences are with Character encoding of cuesheet.
  6. Thanks Paul! I downloaded Capriccio (iphone app music player that plays Flac). It works well, with the ability to play all types of files. It's nice, for now, to be able to get the album art and compatibility with N50. But I'd like to use a slicker interface such as itunes. I did find out that synology NAS's have a pretty decent app that might be an option. But couldn't the Apple Remote app work with itunes stored on a NAS? You mention that Airplay will change convert files to apple lossless. But how would it play on my N50 if it's not compatible with ALAC? Side note: I was thinking of using dbpoweramp with Parallels mainly for the multiple file function.
  7. I'm learning this fact. I have ripped a WAV, ALAC and FLAC. WAV does not have album artwork, ALAC does, FLAC does not on my Pioneer N50 or anywhere else that I can see (because I can't see it in itunes and the little file image is the VLC pylon). The network player does not play the ALAC. What are my other options? Does itunes 11 fix any of this ? Your help is appreciated.
  8. Paul: I'd love to hear how you use XLD. I just ripped my first CD and it didn't gather album artwork properly it seems. I got the artwork to show up on the window prior to ripping but after ripping, the files don't seem to show artwork. I am ripping to WAV. Here's some background of my setup and needs. I just the Pioneer N-50 network player. I will be using airplay for now, through my iPhone 5. I'll likely get a dedicated NAS server (so I don't have to rely on my computer to be turned on) in the future, although I haven't figured out the interface yet. I'm not sure what the interface is like for the Pioneer app, (I don't have wireless set up yet on it) but from what I can tell it's nothing compared to itunes. Ideally in the future, I'd like to get an iPad so I can see the artwork as I browse for music. Anyway, sound quality is top priority hence the lossless format of WAV. The Pioneer N-50 doesn't yet play Apple Lossless (but I've heard it will on the next software update). FLAC does not play through my iPhone. Although it would be fine if I had a NAS server. But then again, I'm not sure what the interface will be like using the NAS server, because I may have to use the pioneer app, unless there is a nice app for an NAS, or maybe an NAS has itunes integrated. I don't know enough about the NAS option. Would love any suggestions and the overview of how you use XLD. Thanks! Derek
