  1. Folsom Field - Boulder CO - June 10 Then the next evening... at Chautauqua, also in Boulder
  2. Musicophile, you're likely correct that it was your recommendation. I've never been disappointed with any of the music you've recommend… I generally like your taste [emoji6] I've been enjoying that Isabelle Faust Mozart as well. Thanks again, keep up the good work!
  3. Absolutely one of my favorite Four Seasons. The added Locatelli Concertos are truly a bonus! There's a good chance someone on this forum pointed me towards this a few years ago. Thanks!!!
  4. In the same vein of Steve Reich, is Alarm Will Sound. I had the pleasure of seeing them with Medeski, Martin and Wood playing with them. I had no idea what to expect from that concert… It was incredible! Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  5. Giving a listen to Jud's recommendation (thanks Jud), I thought of the classic Lyle Lovett "Pontiac" album. Hard to go wrong as background music. Later in the evening, as things get a little noisier, perhaps a little twist on gospel... "The Word". Featuring John Medeski on keyboards (Medeski, Martin & Wood), Robert Randolph on pedal steel guitar, and The North Mississippi All-Stars Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  6. Thanks, I tried that and can get the playlist to show up on the Tidal app on other devices, as well as Sonos, but not Audirvana (though it does display other playlists I've favorited). I also cannot locate it using the search feature through Audirvana. Tidal is relatively new to Audirvana, likely just a little bug Damien needs to work out… It does look like a good playlist though. I guess I'll just have to settle for Sonos for now.
  7. I wasn't aware of this playlist until I was perusing the activity stream for today. Anyone know of a way to play it through Audirvana?
  8. Thanks Alex. I had my other knee done last January so I'm actually excited to get the second one done. I hear you on the painkillers… It scared me that I started thinking like Rush Limbaugh [emoji37] so I got off of them as soon as I could.
  9. All right already! The reviews seem favorable… to say the least. I just bit the bullet - order number 4473. I'm hopeful that by the time it arrives in mid December I'll be able to maneuver into my stereo cabinet to install it… I have a total knee replacement scheduled for next Monday (and a lot of recovery time in my listening chair scheduled after that [emoji4])
  10. For anyone wanting to check out Dead and Company recordings, YouTube has entire concerts available to view and Hi-Rez (and MP3) downloads of their concerts are available at livedead.co the day after the concerts. I've only downloaded the 24/96 versions… Quite good! John Mayer is not Jerry Garcia, but can have that job as long as he wants it! The Dead legacy continues...
  11. Too bad you couldn't see the whole show... that sucks. With any luck Donna wasn't there (I know you're not a fan). If you haven't noticed, YouTube has entire shows available to watch with both audio and video recorded from the sound booth (nice). I haven't checked lately but they seem to be delayed a couple of weeks… at least the Boulder ones showed up that way. As for cost of downloads, I only tried the 24/96 (which are quite good) and I feel are good deal for three + hours worth of music.
  12. I saw the first night Dead & Company concert in Boulder and was quite impressed with the new players. John Mayer obviously has a great respect for the Dead legacy, doing an incredible job on lead guitar, but was still able to put his own spin on the music. Oteil Burbridge (bass) and Jeff Chimenti (keyboards) added their great talent. Weir, Kreutzmann and Hart still have it after all these years. Vocally, the Dead have never sounded better. I was very glad I decided to go to this concert; it had the same feel of the concerts I attended in a previous life, and I actually remember this one clearly! The cost of $120 for the stadium seating pained me for a while but I got over it (the last time I saw them in 1981 it was only $12.50). I found the $25 for a 24/96 recording a worthwhile purchase for over three hours of music. The recording is very nice and sounds much better than it did sitting in the stadium (which actually sounded quite good for a stadium concert). I also ended up getting the second night concert download, as I liked that set list even better.
  13. Last night I went to the Dead and Company concert at Folsum Field in Boulder. My last Dead concert was in a previous life in 1981 and I haven't bothered with any other rendition since Jerry died. I was dubious, but a friend convinced me we should go. First off, the sound quality was quite good for a stadium show... typical Dead commitment to good sound. Video screens added a nice touch in comparison to the concerts of old. John Mayer on lead guitar was incredibly impressive… he did not disappoint me a bit! He obviously has great respect for the Grateful Dead legacy and walked the fine line of tradition versus individual freedom quite well. He supplied many of the vocals, and frankly has a better voice than Jerry on his best day (meaning no disrespect). His guitar work was absolutely phenomenal. Oteil Burbridge on bass did a very fine job as well (taking the place of Phil Lesh who is battling cancer). Jeff Chimenti definitely knows his way around the keyboards and has played with Bob Weir for many years. The remaining old guard of Wier, Kreutzmann, and Hart still have it after all these years. The Dead are back and as good or better than ever! Made the legacy live on. (Next up, Metheny at Chautauqua in Boulder in September)
  14. Just released. 24/96 download from HDtracks. Real good sound quality, great performance. This is one of the relatively few (<10) Dead concerts I experienced in a previous life. My old ticket stub says it cost me $8.25 (Dead $ Company tickets for Folsom Field in Boulder this summer cost me $125)
  15. 2nd REGEN listening impressions (apologies in advance for the length): A few months ago, I convinced a dear friend (who introduced me to high quality music reproduction more than 35 years ago) that he should cancel his order for a USB/SPDIF converter and order the REGEN, as I did, based solely on the reputation of Alex and the glowing reviews coming out on the "Green". We were both quite impressed with the improvement in the USB implementation in our systems, he quickly ordered a 2nd REGEN for his studio system. He received his 2nd REGEN last week and wanted to hold off on installing it in his less used studio system until he had a chance to replace the damaged tweeters in his B&W speakers and, being quite pleased with the 1st REGEN in his other setup, didn't want to "go through the bother" of trying to hook up 2 REGENs (he doesn't read these forums). Fortunately he was more than willing to let me borrow it to test out 2 REGENs in my system - score! I only got a chance to listen to the 2 REGEN setup twice before having to pack up my stereo to move. I, like everyone who has tried 2, was blown away again by this device. My son-in-law summed the improvement up nicely... "Adding the 2nd REGEN made a greater improvement than adding the 1st one did, and now the whole room sounds better instead of just the sweet spot!". I turned the volume down considerably once the grandkids were trying to sleep in the next room and was absolutely amazed at the clarity and balance my system now had even at a really low volume. I set up my stereo last night in the new house using the 2 REGENs and my friend came over tonight to see the progress I've made since he saw it last weekend. After a couple of songs I removed the 2nd REGEN, and after about 30 seconds he wanted it back in. We spent a couple of hours sampling a wide variety of music, totally amazed at the results. I placed an order for 2 more REGENs before writing this review (keeping my friend's while we wait ;-), and though it's hard to imagine that I can get my system to sound even better, I will try to be toward the front of the line for Alex and John's new "whateveritis" when it's ready. Happy listening, Bill P.S. For cabling I'm using: MacMini > Mapleshade Clearlink Plus > REGEN > iUSB blue cable > REGEN > solid connector > DAC. I have no room to try 2 solid connectors and found the recently retired iUSB blue cable to be nearly as good as the solid connector when experimenting with just one REGEN.
