In the price range you are looking I would highly recommend the California Audio Labs Sigma or Alpha DACs. I have owned both of these and they worked quite well. The Sigma uses a single tube in its output stage and the Alpha uses two tubes. They are getting harder to find and I wish I hadn't sold mine but you can find them on Audiogon and Ebay. There is also lots of reviews on both models. Happy hunting.
