  1. Has anyone actually used an SX to drive an F4? If so, what transformer did you use to covert the outputs of the SX?
  2. My definition of bit perfect is not the same as John’s definition. In my view bit perfect is when the DAC receives and processes exactly the same bits as those that left the source. If the original bits of the music file were deliberately altered by convolution then so what? One presumes convolution will have been an applied for a good reason !
  3. Just working my way through this thread having become aware of John via his DIYA posts and Ryans’s D3 DAC based on his designs. I had the very same thought about combining a PowerDAC S with an F4 ! I have a pair of F4s . . . .
  4. That’s great, thanks. It seems to me that this is quite a big deal and one more reason why your recommended software based DSP solutions are in a different league to MiniDSP and other hardware based offerings.
  5. @Miitchco: You may have seen a recent post of mine on the AL forum about sample rate conversion in relation to convolution. Bernt confirmed that the ideal situation is for the digital source signal to remain unmolested all the way through to the DAC and that the convolver converts (if necessary) the filters to the same sample rate / bit depth as the source signal, thereby facilitating the convolution. Is that the way HLC does it?
  6. Great idea Mitch and very interesting results. Toole’s research certainly seems to tell us a lot about what makes a speaker sound “good”, but I suspect that there is still a lot to learn. Further experiments using this kind of methodology might well provide greater insights and point the way to establishing more of the key parameters for great speaker performance.
  7. So what does this review tell us; that it works. Marvellous.
  8. @Bob; Great article and follow up posts, thank you. Your next challenge is to integrate CamillaDSP into the system and then do a write up on how to do it. Please 😉
  9. Thanks Mitch. As you may have guessed my question above is related to the LMS question I posed on the AL forum which you kindly responded to.
  10. @Mitchco: any news on the Linux version please? Do you anticipate that HLC will be able to run on a Pi4?
  11. Sorted! 🙂. Stefano was right, I had my audio pc set to public network. Changing it to Private solved the problem. The strange thing is that my Samsung TV also then became discoverable. Why would changing the setting on the PC affect the TV??
  12. @cebolla: my windows 10 PC and my Samsung TV are both wirelessly connected. Neither show up on MConnect. I use a TP Link M4 Mesh system.
  13. I have JRMC running on a W10 PC. The output goes to a USB DAC. I have Tidal on my ipad and I’d like to play it via JRMC whilst controlling playback from my ipad. My understanding is that MConnect should facilitate this. However I cannot get MConnect to “see” JRMC as a player device. I have ticked the DLNA boxes in the Media Network menu of JRMC. Any suggestions as to what might be the problem?
