  1. Thanks for all of you replies and help, it is greatly appreciated. So I did the optical and it works great. With my DAC at 16 bit non oversampling it does sound good. I borrowed a hotaudio DAC wow optical 24 bit from a friend to try. This did improve the sound coming from my system a little bit. The highs were more pronounced and the soundstage was more forward. I like the fact that it has a 110 volt external power supply. I will be trying this for the weekend and see how it sounds with some of my other music. I just replaced the input tubes with some RCA 5751 tubes and that also seems to have helped the sound as well as the soundstage. As a friend says " junk in junk out". This little DAC might be what I am looking for. It is a budget DAC but does sound better that my 16 bit MacCormack that is a little antiquated. Thanks Brian
  2. I have been a browser for some time and joined the other day. I have a few question that I need clarified. I have been listening with the following gear and enjoy the sound of my system. AMP- Jolida 502A, highly modified by Response audio, Bella extreme 3205. 6550 power tubes,12AX7 input.12AT7 driver tubes. 60 WPC output. Passive Pre Amp- Quicksilver passive pre, volume control only Source- Audio Note CDT-ONE transport McCormack DAC-1 Speakers- Jupiter Audio Europa W/ Jupiter Audio Subterfuge Sub I want to use my mac mini with an external drive to play my music through. It is a 2010 model. My DAC has a RCA input and either RCA or Optical outputs. What do I need to go from the mini to the RCA input on my DAC. Is there a quality USB to RCA cable on the market? Or should I consider a new DAC? I am considering a new DAC so I can still use the transport/McCormack for some of my master CD's but that is up in the air. I love this forum and am getting a lot of great information thus far. I am sure I will have more question in the future and I do know how to use the search feature on forums. Thanks Brian
