1. Has the resolution of this been verified? I've hesitated to upgrade

Thanks

Tom
 2. unfortunately I don't. I restored from a back up. Tom
 3. I experienced the same issue with a similar configuration when I upgraded to MM 3.1 this summer. I restored the older version and have been hesitant to change. I'd like to upgrade because the older version doesn't have the ability to access Amazons artwork but until I hear of a fix I'll hold off. Tom
 4. thus there is no way to utilize 192/24 from Blu Ray via coax to a listener's preferred dac

Which explains why Blu Ray audio needs to be ripped

Tom
 5. Chris

So what good is Blu Ray Audio?

I'll be glad to, let me know where to send it

Tom
 6. Thanks Chris for the info

FYI I bought the NY box and also picked up the new OPPO BR player because I needed a decent player and the OPPO seemingly is a universal player. I also have a computer with a Lynx card and a Berekey Alpha Dac. Interesting enough I bought the Oppo to bypass the hassles of ripping BR audio and to simply have a stand alone player to output to the BAD.

All this seems simple enough but I have run into some hiccups. The Oppo puts out perfect data for all my other DVD-A discs and DVD-V discs yet the data output from the BR audio is only 48K. Tried all the configurations for the Oppo to no avail.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Tom
 7. Open your Lynx configuration and make sure it is set to default.
 8. My Sony BR player is a BDP S350 and if I could run a coax digital cable into my Berkeley Alpha Dac and receive the 192/24 bit stream I could live with that. Many dvd players downsample the audio via their own internal dacs and I suspect that many listeners to dvd audio were/are not listening to true 192/24 or 96/24 bitstreams. How would the average person know unless he had the right equipment such as a Berkely Dac. I "assume" the discs will include a stereo channel. Tom
 9. Chris I don't. I've tried to avoid adding my video to my audio system. Hence my prior questions weeks ago to rip accurate data from DVD-A and DVD Video discs. Thanks to this forum I've accomplished those tasks. The NY Archives set is also going to be released on dvd with 96/24 and cd. What systems or whom for that matter is going to get a 192/24 stream from their Blu Ray players and how will they know? Tom
 10. I have a Sony Blu Ray player that appears to put out bitstream data up to 96/24. I assume it will stream via HDMI at 192/24 but inputing that into a Berkeley Alpha Dac creates another issue. I don't use it for audio as I prefer my music server. Thanks Tom
 11. I'm intrigued by the upcoming Neil Young Archives set. The Blu Ray version will have 24/192 audio. Any suggestions on how to move these tracks to a music server? Thanks tom
 12. My original post was why make the effort to put this product out (flawed as it may be at origin) on media that few can utilize and many that do are not even getting their hardware to output what the media offers. How many of the countless DVD players and Blu Ray players output the high res data stream as featured on the disc? it's like being mesmerized by your fantastic HD TV while watching an 480i channel. Tom
 13. After using dvdaexplorer and other software to rip high res from dvd audio and video discs it has occurred to me many times why does the industry make it so difficult to access their high quality data. I understand the pirating issue but not as it pertains to the size of the files high res requires. From my experience most off the shelf dvd players don't put out a bit perfect data stream of the high res material, usually their internal dacs down mix. If the record companies and artists want the public to embrace high res why put it out in DVD-A, then DVD-V and now Blu Ray. From what I understand Neil Young's Archives set will be released on cd, 24/96 DVD-? and 24/192 Blu Ray. At least with SACD it's just a matter of choosing a good player. These other formats within the video realm seem disingenuous. I highly doubt that a low end Blu Ray player will output audio data at 24/192. Thanks to this site I finally learned that the some dvd-v discs contain high res data that can be ripped with dvd audio extractor. Thus last night I successfully ripped some of the Neil Young cd/dvd bundles and was amazed to see the data was bit perfect 24/96 HDCD. then buoyed by my success I kept going until I hit Neil Young's Greatest Hits DVD-V which for some reason is different and only 2 tracks were viewable. I guess this is more of a rant then a question and I realize the high res downloads are a good solution as well as HRX data dvds, but I'm puzzled that these dvd discs seemed to be manufactured for obsolescence Tom .
