  1. I just sent you a PM to my public dropbox folder. The bios update is in there. let me know if you were able to grab it. Cheers
  2. It was during the boot process....I can't say that is was the same BSOD screen that you are getting but the end result was the same until I did the bios update.
  3. I just checked and this site seems to be working for the bios download. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?lang=eng&DwnldID=21845
  4. When I built my server a few weeks ago it was an absolute no-go until the bios was updated. Let me know if you can't find it anywhere else and I can attempt to do a file share with you via dropbox or something. BTW check your PMs.
  5. My recent build utilizes the DN2800MT and 8GB and has been running Windows 8 64Bit without issue. The only problem I had was some audio issues caused by a faulty interconnect to my Dragonfly DAC.
  6. PROBLEM SOLVED!! I received my Kimber Kable today. Plugged it into the Dragonfly, connected to my tube preamp and set the output to WASAPI- Event. Result = Beautiful sound with none of the snap crackle pop that I was getting with the el-cheapo interconnect I was using previously. I an not sure what Event mode does that just plain old vanilla Wasapi does not but I am just happy to finally have it sorted. HUGE thank you to Chris for the all of the work and testing that you did. If you ever make it up to Vancouver the beer is on me :-) Cheers
  7. I decided to give HDtracks a try a couple of weeks ago when I received a discount coupon code in the packaging of my new DAC. I have only downloaded a few albums and I have been pleasantly surprised. All of the downloads were from their Bluenote compilation 24/96 and sound great. Out of all the titles they offer for download I am sure some are a bit dodgy but so far in my limited experience I am very pleased.
  8. Hi John, Just an FYI I live in Canada and as long as I use paypal (linked to my Credit Card) I have been able to download from HDtracks without any issues at all.
  9. Actually it is more about the noise introduced into the chain. I am not an expert by any means but from what I have read on CA and elsewhere, it is best to keep peripherals to a minimum. Just my 2 cents....
  10. +1 I use my new server (that sounds very similar to yours) as a dedicated music player. Adding the optical drive would possibly create more noise. Jriver allows you to install on more than one machine (within reason) so I have installed it on another PC in the house that I will use for any ripping requirements.
  11. I used a 12V wall wart from an old external hard drive until my PS arrived. As long as it is 12V it should be fine to use as a temp solution.
  12. Just heard that Dave Brubeck died at the ripe old age of 91. Amazing musician/composer. Thanks for the great music Dave!
  13. Hi Chris, I just tried your latest suggestions and it's still a no go. In fact it has gotten even worse. When I try using WASAPI-Event I get no sound whatsoever...not even the snap crackle pop I was getting originally. Good thing I am already bald or I would be pulling my hair out :-). The only thing I updated on the Mobo was the bios. Should I be looking for some intel drivers? BTW you are welcome to log in remotely if you want to double check my settings.
  14. Sorry for the lack of updates on this. Real life and a certain six year old has kept me too busy to play around with the server until last night. I cannot for the life of me figure out why WASAPI - Event won't work for me when the same config seems to work fine for others. I am thinking it may be a hardware issue so I will start swapping out components one at a time. I ordered a Kimber kable interconnect cable to replace my no-name cable I am using currently. In the meantime I will continue to listen in Wasapi mode. Thanks again for the assistance.
