  1. Hello dear friend! The coaxial input is for connection with digital sources that have coaxial digital outputs. You will get the full potential of your dac using usb concerning high resolution formats. Coaxial is until 24/192 streaming. You can purchase a coaxial cable from an audio store or alternatively you can use a composite video cable (yellow plugs) which are also 75ohm. Don't use in any case normal rca cables for coaxial connection because they aren't 75ohm. You can connect your laptop via USB and your receiver via coaxial 75ohm cable and select the input from your dac each time. There is also an optical (toslink) digital input with which you can connect the receiver to your dac but optical connection can support up to 24/96 resolution. The WCK in and out connections are for connecting an outboard world clock component useful for signal clocking and jitter elimination of digital signals but Mytek does it very well with its own internal clocks so not needed at least for most of the people needs... Finally there is a grounding connection which is useful if you assign (from mytek's menu) a phono input in the two inputs on the back panel (AN IN). That's the most basic info. In any case you should carefully instruct the user manual of your device. Enjoy your wonderful dac!!!! Happy listening!
  2. Hello to all! I'm a fan of computers audio the last years and I listen to my music using Personal Computers as my source or transport. Lately I've build a silent pc with WX operation system having used my favourite Asua Xonar Essence ST with some changes in the opamp iv and buffer section. I'm quite satisfied with result and I was wondering what kind of a result I would have in case I'd have tried an RME pci or pcie sound card. Has anybody had one or an experience using an RME sound card? I'm talking about listening to music from a High Fidelity sustem and not from headphones. The essence st is a great card. Would it worth the cost of an RME soundcard in terms of audio upgrade in comparison with the asus xonar essence st? Thanks in advance.
  3. Yesterday I paid a visit to my friend Totsipaki and I've had a nice chance to have an audition of Mytek's Brooklyn DAC. I've auditioned the mytek stereo 192 in the past a lot of times in Totsipaki's place and on my system too. I'm well aware of the 192's sound so it was a standard in my mind in order to realize what's done Mytek this time. But before I start I'd like to to note that I 've been reviewing components in the past for magazine's and for my own fun. Now let's get to point. Brooklyn is just one more reference benchmark for it's category. It is very matured as an implementation company wise and sound wise. I'll be back with more comments asap!
  4. Your comment surprises me. I'm very interested though on it. I would like to see a set of measurements and some case studies, proving what you said about noise and batteries mostly to understand the source of noise created by a battery. About high impedance I've nothing to say. It's power source has its properties and circuits are designed to worked with these two things.
  5. I read nice news Peter! Your Christmas present has arrived! It looks nice and I'm looking forward for an audition of new lovely dac! Have you made any auditions yet? ( I'm sure you did! Consider my question as a curiosity expresion ) I'm so anxious to liten how it performs.
  6. Anyway.. I had a chat with a friend of mine who has the Black Dragon and he is overwhelmed by the machine! Can't wait to test it...
  7. Well I 'll try to make my move in summer so I think I'll have the time for the ifi idsd pro. I just had a quick google glance on the dsd pro and it indeed looks very interesting.
  8. Hello to all the computer audiophile friend! I've been reading quite often your forum and I'd like to share my concerns with you for an upcoming DAC buy I'd like to make in the close future. For the moment I'm using a diy DAC based on an implementation called Mambo V3 Dac built around an ess9023 Sabre Dac Chip but I want to move on forward. Until now I've made my mind around 4-5 Dacs from which I've auditioned only two of them. These are: Mytek Stereo 192 M2tech young DSD Audiobyte Black Dragon (a bit beyond my budget) Oppo HA-1 Pioneer U05 I have already auditioned the first a lot of times and I consider it a killer choice for its money and I have also auditioned a few times the m2tech young DSD for which I have no safe experience due to bad audition environment situations. My basic and non negotiable demands are output, at list 24/192 plus the dsd option. This why I chose the above candidates. I would really appreciate some help of yours in matter of sonic performance and sonic characteristics. I'm a lover of transparency, resolution and musical flow during playback. My system consists of a pair of Audio Physic Scorpio II loudspeakers driven by a Pass Labs INT 30A and as a source I'm using a PC with an SSD for the OS and a dedicated HDD for audio files. I also use an Asus Xonar Essence ST using its spdif output. Software player is Jriver with output setting Wasapi spdif direct output. Thanks in advance.
