  1. Can anybody confirm JRemote (through JRiver) can be used to control playback on these speakers? I've been looking at a Heos by Denon 1 HS2 as an extra speaker (kid's bedroom, PC-desktop, kitchen, travel, outdoor, etc). Yesterday, I compared SQ to Sonos Play:1 in a store, and though the Sonos:1 had the edge in clarity, I thought the sound was pretty acceptable, so because the feature set on the Heos just suits me better, I thought this would be the way to go. My main rig is a MacMini-Windows10 with JRiver/JRemote-setup. I know I can (probably) use the HEOS-app to access JRiver's DLNA-server and control everything, but since I like my JRemote-app, the wife is used to it, and I like to use just one app, if possible, for all music-playback - can anybody confirm this would work? I.e. would the HEOS-speaker show up in J River as an available DLNA-unit, which I could then configure and set up as a zone; and then just go on using JRemote as usual instead of the HEOS-app? Thanks...
  2. MQA on Mytek 192 Stereo? Have been doing a little brushing up on MQA. Lots of buzz, maybe/maybe not the future of computeraudio. In his recent post, Michael Lavorgna, Audiostream says: While it is possible to MQA-enable existing DACs through a hardware or firmware upgrade, there is no way to know if your DAC will be one of them without hearing from the manufacturer Any idea if Mytek (being a first-adopter in their new Brooklyn-DAC) would offer this? Even if it meant hardware-upgrade (at a reasonable price, including manufacture-profit), it could add huge value to a huge number of (happy?) costumers' DACs. Just a thought...
  3. Yeah, it would be great if someone could build an economical version of something like HRS (Harmonic Resolution Systems), especially if it blended in more easily with ordinary furniture!!!
  4. I saw the aria kit for Oppo 105 music server at a show a while back. It might be worth checking out
  5. +1 here. Glad to hear Mytej have been made aware of the issue. I don't normally leave my unit on fir so long, so it had never occured to me that was the reason.
  6. Thanks so much for your help - you'd better get some sleep!! AudioGate from Korg will transcode to PCM (i.e. it converts to a PCM simple rate and bit depth on the fly, so it does not provide 'native' dsd-playback) unless you are on a newer version than me (, which I believe is only supplied with Korg's own DACs). J River can perform the same trick, but shouldn't need to with the Sony's ASIO-driver chosen as your Audio Output Device.
  7. Great, I should have asked first if you actually play DSD-files (.dsf, .dff) In JRMC, choose Tools>Options>Audio/Settings/Bitstreaming>DSD over PCM(DoP) checked; uncheck 'DSD'. If the UDA-1 can still play back DSD-files with this setting, it's my understanding the DAC is DoP-capable. A word of warning, though: make sure you turn down the volumen before attempting playback, on some devices you may get loud static or white noise that can damage your ears, tweeters or headphones!! I'm not 100% familiar with JRMC-settings either, but I have successfully troubleshooted a couple of set-ups... Thanks again
  8. Thanks for your answer. Called Sony support, they haven't got a clue! In the meantime I found this review: Sony UDA-1 review from the experts at whathifi.com The interesting bit is in the text just above the blown up picture of the remote control: 'We hope the forthcoming dedicated Mac driver software helps here.' I wonder where they got this info from. Mike, do you use the UDA-1 with J River or Sony's accompanying App? If J River, I was wondering if you could try changing the settings to DoP-bitsreaming instead to see if it Works? Thanks again, Allan
  9. Live at the Apollo, great music, atmosphere and sound!
  10. I'm looking at the new Sony UDA-1 DAC/Integrated combo for an extra room equipped with a MacMini/JRMC19.I have a large library of DSD-files. I also use the MacMini to work on, and would like to avoid taking the BootCamp/Windows route. Now it seems the Sony is NOT DoP-capable, I don't know if this is a driver or firmware issue. Sony supplies ASIO-driver for Windows, but nothing for MacOs, AFAIK. Has anybody had any experience using the Sony UDA-1 for DSD-playback under Mac OSX? Would Audirvana Plus work instead of JRMC19? Just want to make sure I don't get the wrong product! Any help appreciated!
  11. Paul, I've read many of your posts, which I find really insightful; and Ted, your commitment on this thread made me join CA and wait for the product to mature: I think you are talking past each other. Paul, what is integer mode now , as hitherto, is the Mytek's USB1-input, not its hi-rez and DSD-capable inputs (i.e. USB2 or FW). I've tried this with both running Mavericks and JRMC19, as well as Audirvana Plus. Most recent drivers are pre-Mavericks, and the DAC's drivers would need updating, either by TC Electronics (with no immediate benefit for them) or by Mytek Digital (who stated they would reconsider enabling integer support if Apple were to reintroduce this in future OS updates. One can only speculate if those were empty words from a pro-audio manufacturer marketing its first hifi-product overwhelmed by savvy audiophiles' demands; or whether Mytek is indeed looking into this. A little more communication on forums would go a long way to make us feel our great converter is still fully supported.) Btw, can anyone confirm if the current MAC drivers and JRMC19 support DSD128? I got it to work under Audirvana, but the trial expired and I really want to use JRMC for album management.
  12. I have FW DSD128 working under WIN8 and JRMC19, also with MacOSX and an Audirvana trial, but unfortunately NOT with JRMC19 MAC, which is my go-to playback software at the moment
  13. 57gold, have you heard anything from TC Applied Technologies?
