  1. Mystery solved: I installed hqplayerd 4.. and apparently my license only works for hqplayerd 3...
  2. I tried it but I didn't succeed: http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f11-software/hqplayer-friendly-way-and-stream-tidal-qobuz-spotify-23034/index2.html#post547973 Thanks for the tips, I'll try them as soon as I manage to fix the current issue: With the intention to try native DSD (as oposed to DOP) I upgraded all SW components in my system. Now I have: - HQPlayer version: 3.4.2 (in micro Rendu) - hqplayerd version 4.0.0a8-8 - tlm version 1.2.0-1 - rygel version 0.32.1-1 After the updates I cannot keep hqplayerd running anymore. The hqplayerd log seems OK (see log at the end of the post) but the process stops automatically after it starts. Could you please give me some directions to find out where the root of the issue might be? Is there a way to run hqplayerd with extra log information to see what can be wrong? Cheers, Victor.
  3. Hi, First of all you need to add a user and server (HQPlayer PC) to JuiceSSH. Then you create snippets in "Cluster snippets" and you just run them selecting the HQPlayer PC server. Example of snippets that I use (you need to remove the " character but keep the empty line at the end of each snippet): - Start hqplayerd&rygel: "/etc/session.d/user-session & exit " - Re-start hqplayerd (I need to do it from time to time): "ps -ef | grep hqplayerd | grep -v grep | awk '{print $2}' | xargs -r kill -9 ps -ef | grep rygel | grep -v grep | awk '{print $2}' | xargs -r kill -9 /etc/session.d/user-session & exit " - Change to specific hqplayer configuration (using a new hqplayerd.xml file and then stopping hqplayerd&rygel and re-starting them) "cd /etc/hqplayer cp hqplayerd.xml.PCM.polysincminshort hqplayerd.xml ps -ef | grep hqplayerd | grep -v grep | awk '{print $2}' | xargs -r kill -9 ps -ef | grep rygel | grep -v grep | awk '{print $2}' | xargs -r kill -9 /etc/session.d/user-session & exit " Cheers
  4. My Schiit Yggdrasil DAC (230V) is for sale for 1990 EUR including shipping to EU (not including PayPal fees or shipping outside EU). Original boxes are included. Cosmetically and functionallity in excelent condition. Price is final. This is by many a reference DAC that needs no introduction. I will take and upload pictures as soon as I have time. Cheers
  5. Many thanks for the comparison Ted! As many users have reported that the Yggy sounds much better after it is powered up for some days, would you please clarify if this is the way that you tested it or if you switched it on and off whenever you intended to listen to it? Cheers
  6. My upgraded Lampizator Level 4 Generation 4 DAC is for sale for 1990 EUR (2290 EUR with extra tubes) including shipping to EU (not including PayPal fees or shipping outside EU). Original boxes and certificate of authenticity/guarantee are included. This is the standard 230V L4 G4 that I bought from Kemp Elektroniks (audio distributor from The Netherlands) on August 2014. They upgraded the unit with: - Allen Bradley resistors - Furutech gold plated IEC inlet. That unit had the standard S/PDIF (RCA) digital input and RCA analogue output. Then I sent it to Lampizator to install the following upgrades: - USB Input - DSD Engine - Convert it to fully balanced - 4 new Jupiter Copper Wax capacitors - 2 sets of XLR outputs (Very important for me to be able to connect the DAC to two different amplifiers not having to connect and disconnect cables). I cannot understand why this is not a standard feature in most DACs. - Replace RCA input connector with a 75 ohm BNC connector. The unit has 5 years transferable guarantee from August 2014. Still more than 2 years of official guarantee ahead. After the upgrades I tried different tubes that will I include in the package and sound much better than the default ones (Sovtec): - 2 pairs of Sylvania 6SN7W Short bottle. My favorite tube - Pair of Sylvania 6SN7W big bottle. My favorite too. - Pair of Ken-Rad 6SN7GT VT-231 . My second favorite. Bass to die for. Plastic holder in one tube is broken but it fits perfectly in the DAC and it does not affect the sound. - 2 pairs of 1578 Russian tubes. The best Russian 6SN7 tubes, comparable to the best. Very recommended by Lampizator. - Pair of Tungsol 6SN7WGT tubes. - Sylvania 5Y3WGT rectifier tube - Bendix 6106 rectifier tube (More than 400 EUR in nice tubes) As you can see in the web, this DAC would retail for about 4500 EUR not including the tubes. This is the DAC that made Lampizator famous. It is their best seller that you do not see usually for sale as people normally do not let them go. This Lampizator DAC sounds amazing and it has been very well built. Before doing the upgrade, Lukasz told me in an email: “... the DAC looks very clean and good. It was a specially well made demo unit for potential distributor. ….” Some reviews: ( many more here: REVIEWS ) LampizatOr Level 4 DAC Mono and Stereo High-End Audio Magazine: Lampizator level 4 DAC test review Pictures (click for higher resulution images): Cheers, Victor.
  7. I agree with you 100% and I understand that Ted cannot do reviews doing direct comparisons with every unit that we would like. Still, in my opinion, a DAC review could be a) Very fun and interesting to read with limited usefulness (the case of this review) b) Very useful when the reviewed DAC is compared to other similar units (apples to apples, etc.) that are trend in forums. c) Something between a) and b) when the unit is compared to other DACs (apples to oranges) which is normally the case (not talking about Ted but just about reviews in general) Cheers
  8. Thanks for the review! Unfortunately the most wanted information would be how this apparently great cost/performance ratio DAC compares to other DACs in the same great cost/performance category that are being considered for many as the reference these days: - Playing PCM: Schiit Yggdrasil R2R DAC - Playing DSD: T+A DAC 8 DSD when playing DSD512 I understand that reviews cannot please everyone but I bet that a comparison with these two DACs would be the real useful info that most of us would have loved to read. Cheers
  9. +1 Not all powered DAC behave the same way in this regard. You'll have to check by yourself of read from someone with a TT.
  10. I recommend you the nice Konvertible Lite cable from Elijah Audio: Elijah Audio - Products This is the one that I have and instead of having to remove the USB-B connector from the DAC, I just remove the red plug to cool down the mRendu. Cheers
  11. Hello Victor.

I am interested in purchasing your Lampizator transport. Is it still available?

    Best regards.

    Alex

  12. Are you really implying that readme.txt files are supposed to be read? I'm sorry, I didn't realize it was there. Thanks!
