  1. The server software behaves like a headless core?
  2. I have the need for using 3 different places to playback music. 1: The Macmini at the livingroom connnected to a USB DAC, 2: Upstairs Tv room most likely a Macmini or a Apple TV, 3: Kitchen Apple express. I would like to control the playback via a Surface Pro 3 or Powerbooks or iPads My music collections is stored on a NAS. As server I can use MacMini as servers or PC with 2012 R2. My problem is; Can I have several cores? Can I control a Remote (Mini) from the Surface Pro or must the Mini be a core? Will Roon server make a differense? Thanks in advance Harry
  3. Yes, what remains is to have Win 7 play sound on the firewire and HDMI at the same time.
  4. Well, it is half of the solution I belive. Now is the problem how to set Win 7 to output sound via 2 different connections at the same time. HDMI and Firewire without having to switch anything on the computer. Thanks in advance Harry
  5. I have decided to use my MacMini 1st generation HDMI to run WIN7 Ultimate and MC17. Both for sonic reasons and ease of use. I have many TB music and several TB videos. I would like to have the HDMI and the Firewire send out music at the same time. For music listening I would like to use my Weiss DAC with Firewire and for videos I would like to use the HDMI. I can go in and switch myself but family will go crazy so I would like to find out how to set the audio output from WIN7/MC17 to both HDMI multichannel and Firewire in stereo at the same time so I can just switch source on the processor to use either. I'm not interested in switching to any other hardware or OS. And most likely not switching to any other software either. Thanks in advance Harry
  6. Well so far JRiver has needed more that 36 hours to index half the collection. Big databases are a serious slowdown. I'm confident that the networks is up to GB speed so I have no problems with the actual network performance. Harry
  7. I have a record collection with some doublets that is about 11TB. What will be the fastest server software and player setup? Not only for making search but also a combination with a speedy indexing. The size of the database is really slowing down some combinations so it's interesting to hear from people using the same size of the record collection. Feel free to advice any solution. Today the music is stored on a ReadyNas. I have access to Macservers, WHS servers, Squeezeboxes, Oppo95, MacMini running either MacOSX or WIN7 Ultimate. And of course I want no only the fastest player-server combo, I also would like to get the best possible sonic performance out of the combinations I have. I'm not interested in buying a HiFi-server since I'm not interested in paying HiFi-prices for harddrives and because I'm a network engineer I'm feeling confident in having a standard server. Thanks in advance Harry
