  1. At checkout, click the blue Discount button and enter the discount code: summer24kws Labels: 1. Harmonia Mundi 2. Pentatone 3. Chandos 4. Mirare 5. Berlin Philharmonic 6. La Dolce Volta 7. Aparté
  2. I have a different hypothesis: Apple Spatial Audio, i.e., multi-channel: https://www.whathifi.com/advice/what-is-apple-spatial-audio von Bahr's announcement says "BIS has always been about exceptional sound quality, and Apple’s dedication to sound, as well as to Spatial Audio, is something I have followed with interest." BIS is the only classical label whose releases continue to be almost entirely multi-channel. Apple wants multi-channel content to differentiate its Apple Music streaming service from competitors. The BIS catalog gives Apple Classical Music a jump start on multi-channel even if BIS stops producing new recordings. BIS's thousands of multi-channel classical albums eclipses the measly 241 tracks (not albums) of multi-channel show tunes currently offered by Apple Music: https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/film-tv-stage-in-spatial-audio/pl.b90e81007e8143279411ad32ea9a6ae1
  3. fwiw, the fact that Robert von Bahr initially will continue as an Apple employee seems meaningless. Apple can breach any commitment to him with impunity because he would not want to undertake the huge expense of litigation with Apple.
  4. eClassical download store to continue independently of BIS: In response to my question today, George Olvik said he bought eClassical from Robert von Bahr before von Bahr sold BIS to Apple, and that he intends to keep eClassical going "for a long time", with a major site upgrade in a few months. (Olvik has been the manager of eClassical since its inception.)
  5. Two articles that add meaningful background: https://techcrunch.com/2023/09/05/apples-bis-acquisition-is-a-bet-on-a-classical-music-catalogue-and-on-building-cred-in-the-industry/ https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2023/09/apple-fuels-classical-music-push-with-record-label-acquisition/
  6. (Deleted — I see Chris started this topic in the Music General forum.)
  7. You should be able to eliminate permissions problems on the music volume (Seagate 7 25102019) by selecting the volume in the Finder, doing Get Info, and ticking the checkbox "Ignore ownership on this volume".
  8. (1) The developer responds to email at [email protected]. I've experienced response times ranging from 1 day to 1 week. (2) I am pretty sure there is no Swinsian forum. (3) "as the Library folder/original location has failed, I cannot identify it as the "original location", and: Swinsian does not have permission to modify this folder" That's not how Prefs > Library > "Move Library" works on my copy of Swinsian. It does not ask me to specify the original location because that is already defined, even if the original location is an unmounted volume. It only asks me to specify the new location. There's also a checkbox to enable "Include files that are not inside the current library folder (consolidate)." (4) If you don’t mind losing your star ratings and playlists, you can make a zip archive of, then delete, the Swinsian folder inside your user Application Support folder, then reimport your entire music library from scratch.
  9. The ConfigurationLoad TCP command was removed when you released HQP Desktop 4. Does this command function in Embedded?
  10. Ravel songs by baritone Stéphane Degout, with pianist Cédric Tiberghien, are excellent. (I only bought the songs because I found the two piano concertos understated, and I don’t care for the historic piano.)
  11. This is about half the usual price. US Dollars: https://lps.idagio.com/us/promotions/gift-card Euros: https://www.idagio.com/promotions/gift-card/#embedded-gift-card
  12. Nielsen's violin concerto is very lyrical, without the brashness of his symphonies. (Don’t be put off by the loud opening chord.) BIS/eClassical currently has on sale for $6 the best performance of it I've heard. Young violinist Johan Dalene and conductor John Storgårds exude exceptional life and variety. Dalene's quicksilver style is both poignant and flashy as appropriate. The orchestra is an equal partner, unless many other recordings in which it recedes to the background. I'm unimpressed with the performance of the Sibelius concerto on the album, so the $6 price I cite is for downloading just the Nielsen. I don’t know when the 30% discount for the high-res download will end.
  13. Thanks for the alert! Would not have discovered it because: @Miska the new NAA v4.2.4 for Mac is on the downloads page, but there is no indication of this version on either your main page https://www.signalyst.eu/consumer.html or the News page https://www.signalyst.eu For the benefit of non-Mac users, only the Mac version requires an upgrade. The other builds remain at 4.2.3.
  14. @copy_of_a: Open System Prefs > Security > Privacy, select Microphone from the left pane, and see whether networkaudiod has requested access. If so, tick the checkbox. On my system, only Desktop, not networkaudiod, is listed here. Like you, I installed networkaudiod in /usr/local/bin/ My RME DAC may be an example of this: it has no USB input, yet it shows an input in Audio MIDI Setup. Nevertheless, it has not requested Microphone access from MacOS Privacy services, and I am running NAA from a user account that does not even have ordinary administrator privileges.
