  1. I've spoken to several M1 DAC owners and it seems all of them report the same "problem" with the "incoming sample" and the "upscaling at 192" lights. They also report that sometimes, even if the lights are ON, they randomly shut down (just the lights, the dac stays on, playing music). It also happens with mine. Can the computeraudiophile M1DAC owners confirm this ? Thanks PS: I've only tried the USB input, i dont know if it still happens with the coax/digital/xlr inputs.
  2. I think i discovered the problem: it seems that its necessary to have the source connected, in this case the PC and the player (foobar, jriver, etc), and only after this, to connect the DAC. In this order the "incoming sample" and the "upscaling at 192" lights both light up. Maybe some kind of handshake its needed for this ...
  3. I made a small try with jriver, but it was too complicated and i return to foobar But I will make another try using the guides you provided and report the results. Thank you very much. Best regards
  4. Thank you for the reply Yes, the USB specs are correct, the M1DAC-A only supports upto 24/96 via USB. The M1DAC manual states, on page 8 : "To use the USB input, press the input select button on the front panel until the USB input LED is lit. The “UPSAMPLING at 192kHz” green LED will light if a valid digital signal is present. The incoming sample rate is also indicated by a blue LED in the row below." My understanding is the following : - The "incoming sample rate" light signals the sample rate the M1DAC is receiving. - The "UPSAMPLING at 192kHz" light signals that the M1DAC is upsampling to 192khz the incoming data. CA review also states : " ... especially when the M1DAC upsamples all incoming audio to 24/192. In this case "support" means the DAC will lock on to the incoming digital signal, upsample it to 24/192 (ASRC), and convert it to an audible analog signal" My understanding is that the M1DAC should receive the redbook cd data (16/48hz), and upsample it to 24/192, which would led to the "Upsampling light" being ON, and the incoming sample rate indicator at 44.1khz. As both lights are off, i'm afraid i'm not getting all the benefits from the M1DAC. I also suspect it could be the foobar2000 setting, but i tried everything to no avail.
  5. I'm using a MF M1DAC via USB input with a laptop ( Win 7 enterprise ) and foobar2000. Although the sound is very good, the incoming sampling rate and the upsampling at 192Khz lights wont light UP. The page 9 of the manual states: - UPSAMPLING…. green LED will not light = > "Check source digital output is set for “16 bit stereo PCM” or similar". But the USB input specifications states that this input only receives 24bit data. So when i set foobar2000 to play at an unaltered bitrate (in the case of reedbok CD, at 16 bit), i receive an error stating that the device only supports "24/96khz". I've tried using DS (Direct Sound), asio4all, and WASAPI, and no method lighted up the "Incoming sampling rate" and "upsampling at 192Khz" lights. Can anyone advise?
