  1. I agreed with your previous post and agree with this, as well. Like you, I've found the updates to ARC have solved the problem of unpredictable connectivity. Now, if ARC could send output to a Roon-ready or DLNA networked endpoint, THAT would be amazing!
  2. I switched from OpenHome and DLNA to Roon about a year ago, but I still keep MinimServer and BubbleUPnP Server running on my NAS and the BubbleUPnP control point on my Android devices. For me, Roon ARC runs sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. In no case will it drive a DLNA, OpenHome, or Roon client at the receiving end. On a good day, it will drive a USB DAC via a cable from my (Android 13, Samsung) phone. Most days, it won't. Though it was a bit trickier to set up, the BubbleUPnP Server setup has always worked well. I can stream my own library and Qobuz (BubbleUPnP supports Qobuz) and direct the output to any DLNA or OpenHome renderer, no matter where I am. I sent music to a friend's Rossini DAC, to a NAIM Uniti at a local dealership, and on many vacations. I have a lifetime subscription and I am worried about Roon's future. They don't support any of the most popular streaming services, so it's hard to see how their user base can grow. They spent a lot of development effort on ARC*, which is buggy, crippled in output options, and with a GUI seemingly designed by someone who never used any other Roon clients. I still love using Roon at home, but I don't like ARC yet, and I'm concerned about Roon's future. Mike * Why pick a name already used for two other audio things? (Anthem Room Correction, HDMI Audio Return Channel)
  3. More power, otherwise similar specs. Does that sum it up?
  4. I don't think PuriFi has released it yet. It's not on their Web site.
  5. Volumio can act as a UPnP/DLNA renderer. That means that if you don't like the Web interface (I'm not a fan myself), you can use the UPnP/DLNA client of your choice to control it. I use BubbleUPnP on Android.
  6. It seems impossible to find out from iFi or the distributor if the Zen Stream supports gapless DLNA streaming. I have asked via several avenues but not got an answer. Anyone? @photonman, have you tried that, by any chance?
  7. Last time I checked, MQA forbids a DAC from outputting a decoded MQA stream.
  8. Volumio is easy to install and configure. (The only thing difficult in my experience has been setting up WiFi. The built-in hotspot has not worked consistently for me.) A nice feature is that keyboard and monitor are never needed during setup, unlike so other OS options for this purpose. I have used gear running Volumio as DLNA renderers and Roon endpoints. In both uses, it worked fine. Volumio is frequently updated, which is nice. I don't care for software that has been abandoned by the developers. It is free unless you choose to pay for the extras included in MyVolumio. I think Volumio is a good solution for streaming on a device that supports it.
  9. @katools - I checked my file library against Roon, and about 10% of the discs were unidentified by Roon. For some, that was expected, as they are my own recordings or downloaded from the Internet Archive. For others, this alerted me to missing files in my library. For a good number of others, the Roon metadata was missing timings, which Roon interpreted as conflicts with my files, requiring manual intervention. Others are missing from Roon's database for no obvious reason (which might have, say 45 of the 50 volumes of a series, with the omissions hit or miss). It is a bit disappointing to see so many releases unidentified that could have been identified easily. The most problematic issue for me is that for certain large multi-disc sets, I changed the disk/track numbers upon ripping (long pre-Roon) to a more logical order -- say Symphonies 1-9 in that order, not in the order they would fit onto the minimum of CDs. Roon does not recognize the release then, or matches it wrong, and the Roon tools for getting metadata and files to match up are so laborious, I have decided against trying. I do enjoy Roon, but it's clear that they are depending on what can be done automatically, leaving a lot of work for the user at times.
  10. Yes, and thanks for that. Still, that doesn't give what @katoolsis showning, which was to identify albums with no genre. I mean, to identify those without having to "-" every genre listed.
  11. That's interesting and unfortunate. How did you get that display? I've tried it with my copy of Roon and can't find it. When I select "My Albums" from the left menu, then Focus, I can't find a way to display those without Genres or other tags. A hint, please?
  12. It does not happen on my 10 yr old i7 system running Roon under Windows 10. My physical file library hasn't grown in a while, if that's relevant.
  13. The value of having it run on various OS is that the potential customer can try it on a PC or Mac or laptop before committing. Since Linux, capable as it is, isn't as popular, moving exclusively to Lunux would prevent most from trying it. P.S. Somehow I missed @firedog's post saying the same thing.
  14. Just for clarity -- not to be a nitpicker -- it is the DigiOne Signature that requires two power supplies. The original DigiOne does not.
  15. JRiver Media Center runs on Windows (among other platforms) and through its "Media Network" feature can be set up as any combination of DLNA server, control point, and/or renderer. There is a free trial you might try. Please note that this is a small part of what JRiver MC can do. It may require a little fiddling to get it set up to your satisfaction.
