  1. It does it irrespective of volume. Obviously if I turn off the amp first, it will not make the sound. I reached out to Mytek and they said it was definitely not normal. I am on firmware 2.05. Wondering if that has something to do with it. Using XLR outs to amp.
  2. I get a horrible popping noise through my speakers when I turn the DAC on or off. What could be the issue?
  3. Just placed an order for this DAC. Looking forward to reading your take on it. Any early thoughts?
  4. I know it's still a new product but has anyone had a chance to compare this against the Oppo HA-1? Or anyone care to comment? I am interested in this DAC for Tidal MQA once available. I would like to know how good the DAC and preamp sections are compared to the Oppo. Don't care about the HP amp. This is in a desktop setup with Kef LS50 speakers and Parasound A23 amp.
  5. Hello. Interested in exploring a DAC upgrade from my current Audiolab M-DAC. What are some of the recommended heavy hitters in the $1000 - $1,500 range? Interested in the most analog sounding unit with USB 2.0 and DSD capability. Do not need headphone amp or pre-amp capability in DAC. Would the TEAC UD-501 be a downgrade? Thx.
  6. I would throw money at better speakers first. Looks like you have Dyn X16s as far as I can tell. I would step up to the new Focus line before spending any more cash on dacs, amps, etc.
  7. I upgraded to the Audiolab M-DAC from the Asus STX. I do still use the STX as s/pdif bridge to the M-DAC. The M-DAC sounds more natural and detailed.
  8. That's an odd placement of the buttons. To me, it would make more sense to have them on the longer side.
  9. I've been using my M-DAC for about a week. Can't really say I've noticed any changes in its sound signature. I thought it sounded very good straight out of the box.
  10. Thanks guys. I just left it alone with the Asus ASIO drivers. M-DAC sounds fantastic. I immediately noticed more detail and musicality.
  11. Can someone please assist me with setting up the DAC? The manual doesn't really get into setting it up through a PC with a SPDIF bridge. I want to make sure I am getting the best connection. What drivers do I use for my Asus STX? Should I use the ASIO drivers? Do I still use Kernel Streaming or WASAPI in Foobar? What sample rate do I select in the Xonar Audio Center? Thanks for any feedback...
  12. I ordered the Audiolab M-DAC a couple days ago. It's got so much going for it, it was just too hard to pass on. My question is in regards to making sure I set it up the best possible way in my PC setup. My plan is to keep the Asus Essence STX and use it's coax out into the M-DAC. Do I need to change anything in terms of drivers or other settings in windows/foobar?
  13. Thank you for the heads up on this unit. Looks like it might be just what I am looking for! I can't currently utilize the balanced connections as my current sub doesn't have those inputs and I use it's internal crossover to output to my monitors. I guess I can always get a better sub, lol. It never ends!... Is there a US distributor for the DAC? I can only find a Canadian importer. Thanks again.
  14. Thanks Jim. Did windows volume control still function? Reason I ask is because I still use the PC to listen to Pandora, YouTube, etc.
