  1. Hello All, I've been lurking for a while and finally got the nerve up to try to tackle Computer Audio! Hello! I'd like to start with a question if I can? I'm not completely lost with computers, but I definitely am not a computer science major... I really just know the basics. My main goal is to set up the best quality audio server I can, and then just try to forget about it, and "enjoy the music" and hopefully not keep tweaking on it.. I guess I know enough from reading here that I don't want to have my Mac Mini (that will be acting as a dedicated server with a Buffalo Cloudstor NAS, and a PS Audio DAC) running any unnecessary programs while it is serving music. I am about to order the i7 Mac Mini with 8GB RAM and a single internal SSD for the essential programs. The music will all reside on the NAS hardwired to the router. I possibly may decide to use an external HDD and keep the NAS for backups. I don't know yet, but I'm open to suggestions! My desktop Mac in another room will also be hardwired to the same router and I'm going to use that to rip FLAC to the NAS. The Mini will do all the playing. I'm wondering: Which programs should I uninstall from the mini and what is the best way to do this for my intentions? Any other suggestions on setting it up? I'm sorry if this question is too vague... I tried searching but turned up not a lot with regards to sound quality and deleting unneeded programs... Thanks much for any help... And Aloha from Hawaii! -- JD
