  1. If it is acceptable to point out the correct usage of the word Biergarten I am going it be totally annoying and complain about the phrase "peak my interest". That peaked my analmeter (TM.). Regards, Geoff
  2. Precisely. I also used Super Duper. I did not buy an enclosure but bought one of those Vantec adaptor kits to set up the SSD for the cloning operation. They are about $30.
  3. That's impressive. It took me 4 months to rip 1400 CDs.
  4. Well said Sherwood. I also wish you the best, tyro.
  5. For the albums, I also like the Barry Diament, Joe Sidore CDs. The best mastering and the best sounding Led Zep on CD I have heard (and own) is the 3 CD set Warner Bros. Retro Active RA-003 (limited edition of 2500 copies). Mastered by Dave Collins in 2001 as a promotional for LZ to the film industry. Cameron Crowe was involved, but I don't know the exact reason. It's in a box with some nice black and white photos. Comes up on eBay every now and again in the $100-$150 range. I would not pay more than that. A very fine set - if you can get away from the album feel, which is hard for some.
  6. iUSB between Mac Mini and HDD (externally powered, of course). Interesting thought.
  7. If you can afford it and you are absolutely certain that you would never exceed the capacity of the big SSDs then why not. I preferred the flexibility so put a 120GB SSD in my 2011 Mac Mini for the O/S and have an external powered case into which I put a Western Digital 1TB. This is USB-connected - my DAC uses Firewire. This is such a well-trodden path that it was a comfortable choice. If my ripping/HD downloads (none yet) gets near the limit of the 3.5" 1TB drive I could replace it with a 2TB and copy everything over (the iTunes library is on the SSD). No fan in the enclosure, so that's not a concern.
  8. FYI - it is "Flare" Nordost : Products : Purple Flare Power Cord
  9. What "state of the art" device are you referring to? I'm all ears.
  10. Neither am I. Clearly the "Sort" fields are (Sort Album, Sort Artist, Sort Artist Album, Sort Composer, Sort Name, Sort Show)
  11. The "Red" series are quieter. But I cannot hear my Green series. I don't like multipurpose devices that much. So an enclosure that's like a Swiss army knife doesn't attract me as much as a device that is dedicated to the purpose. (PS. I hope Lacie drives have improved. They gave us all sorts of overheating problems 5 years ago on a commerical project I worked on. I would not buy one, although many users are happy with them.)
