  1. The Focal XS 2.1 speakers are Excellent !!!!!
  2. It's the specifications that were established for the Compact Disc Format when it was first introduced. The term comes from the book the specs were published in; it had a Red cover, hence the term Redbook
  3. Focal XS Satellite 2.1 system is great. I have it on my desk and it hooks up USB and has it's own DAC and the sound is very natural and analog like.
  4. The V-Link is only an interface converter that supports asynchronous transfer, the Dac in the Integra is what is Isochronous. Get an inexpensive Dac such as a Cambridge Dac Magic Plus or the Musical Fidelity V Dac II which will replace the V Link and the Integra Dac and use an analog input.
  5. The Halide was compared to the Dragonfly in Stereophile and was considered to be very superior as well as the Halide Dac HD has the analog interconnects built-in so you save at least $100 right there.
  6. Get a firewire hard drive. I have one on my iMac & it sounds great. It's an iomega
  7. The Focal XS Satellites & Sub have a built-in USB Dac and sound great for under $600. I have it hooked up to my iMac with Amarra HiFi and iTunes using a firewire external Drive for my iTunes media folder. It really sounds lifelike and extremely detailed.
