  1. I have been thinking about the Westone 4's or the SE535, however I don't know if I'm ready to move into in-ear phones for my main listening pair. See, since November I have been listening to a pair of Audez'e LCD-3's with the Gungnir/Mjolnir combo, and I've really liked it. Sadly, there are some irresolvable issues with the LCD-3's, so I must return them. I also could keep the Mjolnir/Gungnir and stay non-portable, buy a another pair of non-portable headphones, and acquire a balanced cable for them. Is there any pair you would recommend for this combo below $1000 that isn't the LCD-2's? I greatly regret not having the LCD-3's anymore, but the issue was very annoying to me, as I have very sensitive hearing, and they could not seem to resolve it. In short, I could go both portable or non-portable. I just want to know what would be best in both cases under my restrictions. Thank you! Ben
  2. Hi, I am looking for a fairly small combo that I can use with my Retina MacBook Pro. I would like a very nice pair of portable headphones, as well as a small DAC and AMP (or all-in-one) to go along with it. I have had many different systems, so I like to think my ears are fairly discerning. I've had LCD-3's with a Schiit Gungnir/Mjolnir, I've had HD650's with a Bottlehead Crack, among other, cheaper options. I quite like the HD650 and the Panasonic RP-HJE900, I still have both. I really like the sound signature of the LCD-3. I like a lot of music, and I frequently use Spotify, though I have a nice library of lossless music with some 96/192kHz stuff from HDtracks thrown in. I listen to a lot of Brazilian music, I love jazz, I also like some mainstream music. I like a nice, detailed, well-balanced sound signature, though not too analytical, I did not like the Etymotic HF5's at all. I would be ok with both in-ear and over-ear headphones, just as long as they're very good. I would appreciate it if the DAC could do all the way up to 192kHz, but it's not a complete dealbreaker. I have been thinking about the Dragonfly, but I may want something a bit more high end than that. I appreciate all recommendations, feel free to recommend something a bit cheaper also. I just want a nice, portable system that sounds very good and works nicely together. Thanks! Ben
  3. I'm having the dropout issue also!
  4. I just got my first kernel panic using Audirvana+ on a new Mac Mini that just came out 2 days ago. Using the Gungnir. Only 4GB of RAM right now though, could that be the problem? I'm going to update to the new version now. Is there any way to use it stably with 4GB? I'm going to upgrade tomorrow, but would like to use it tonight if possible. Thanks for all the help, guys! Ben
  5. Geez, that doesn't sound like fun. Bonne chance avec 1,4, Damien! (If there's any bad grammar there, it's Google Translate's fault!)
  6. Haven't heard from him in quite a while even sent him another PM.
  7. Hmmm...everyone else said it froze up their iPad to the point of hard re-starting it. Hopefully that's been fixed, it looks like it has in your case!
  8. It works on your ipad with CCK? I heard it didn't and even confirmed it with Jason. I'm curious what your fix is? That would be awesome!
  9. I have a feeling that I'm going to be keeping it, but I hope this issue will be resolved in the future.
  10. I'm pretty sure it's only with USB. I am debating returning it: on one side everybody's does it at some point, at the other side I find it unacceptable for a product that cost $970 all said and done... Input?
  11. I sent him a PM a few weeks ago before I bought it...I haven't heard from him...hopefully that's a good thing!!! I just asked Jason why he thinks its going this. He responded with "Because USB is a relatively bad interface, and it is very picky about cables/sources/software.". I definitely understand this response, with all the stuff I've heard about USB audio. I really love Audirvana+ and it never did this with my PS Audio DLIII. I'm hearing both sides, that I should change software, that it's Audirvana+, and that it's happened with other software too. Hmm...very weird!
  12. Geez, it just did it again and scared the Schiit out of me. Jason responded and told me to use Amarra or BitPerfect. Does anyone else have advice? I really like Audirvana+!!!
  13. Huh, that's really weird. Does Schiit know about it? I emailed Jason, will probably hear back soon. He's very good about responding. Does anyone else have any input?
  14. Hi there! I'm using a brand-new Schiit Gungnir. There has been a really odd phenomenon going on that has happened twice today. Both with an HDtracks download 192kHz/24bit of Cat Stevens' Tea For the Tillerman (different tracks). Also one time with a generic USB cable and one with an AudioQuest Cinnamon. I'm using Audirvana+ 1.3.9.9 beta in direct/integer mode. So what happens is there starts to be a bunch of high-pitched squealing, and then the song gets extremely grainy and it sounds like you're listening through a telephone line. It goes away after you close the program and reopen it. I'm assuming this is a bug with the Audirvana+ beta, do any of you have some advice for me? I bought Audirvana+ and I absolutely love it! thanks! ben
  15. Hi! I just bought one of these, and I am hoping I'm going to like it very much! My setup will be: iMac Optical>PS Audio Digital Link III>Bottlehead Crack>Sennheiser HD650's I bet it'll sound great! What's your guyses' takes? Ben BTW: I'm new here, from head-fi.org, and audiokarma.org
