  1. That is correct. I went with a Rythmik sub on recommendation of another member here and could not be happier.
  2. I have been looking at the Peachtree nova pre.Looks like it gas a great DAC and 2 line outputs. I haven't had the opportunity to try one yet but it has great reviews. Tube Preamplifier with DAC - novaPre | Peachtree Audio
  3. If you are handy I picked up a Rek-O-kut N33H for $90. Sold the tone arm and plinth on Ebay for $120. Spent about $130 on materials for the new plinth. That leaves about $900 in your budget for tone arm and cartridge. I got lucky with a Grace 714 tone arm for $360 and am still auditioning cartridges from a friends collection. I would put it up against anything in the price range without hesitation. I know this route isn't for everyone but if you enjoy projects you can get a big bang for your money and the added enjoyment on telling your friends you built it. Tons of great info on Turntable Forum • Index page for DIY as well as very knowledgeable folks that can point you to the best TT in your budget new or used.
  4. I have been lurking for awhile and have a few questions. I jest set up a Zotac ZBOX Blu-ray Series ZBOXHD-ID33BR-U with 4 gig of ram and a 1TB drive running windows 7 and Albumplayer. This is running flac with the ASIO option and a dacmagic through usb. Can I follow the caps set up recommendations for disabling programs and turning off processes safely with this set up? I should add that I am currently controlling it via Android and have added albumplayer to boot at startup so I can run without a monitor however I do connect the HDMI to the tv when editing is needed. My goal is to eliminate anything that could affect the sound quality and reduce the load an the computer. I am trying to get the best out of what I have so any suggestions would be appreciated! The complete system is the above through a Harmon Kardon Citation 17 pre-amp Adcom GFA 555 amp Rhythik DS 1200 cervo controlled sub rebuilt Magnepan SMG-a's On a side note I have read a couple posts asking about Album player. I have used it for ten years and won't use anything else. There were 2 posts not answered about handling large collections...I have a little over 6000 albums loaded on the Zotac totaling 68,749 tracks with no lag whatsoever. It is one of the most user friendly programs I have used for quick easy access and look up in a large collection. With the android/Iphone app and the ability to use a touchscreen I don't think it can be beat! That being said I have used a lot of programs that do not stack up but got frustrated with J River and dumped it before learning how to use it so I can't say how they compare. Cheers
