  1. Everytime I drop the internet connection to my Sonore Signature Rendu SE and replug it I go through hell trying to get the device to be seen by MySonicorbiter. I play with the connections, I restart the Rendu, I restart the dac, I eventually get it going again but it takes 10 to 20 minutes of fussing with the damned thing. What if anything am I doing wrong? Nothing else on my network or in my system causes me this grief.
  2. The USA distributor doesn't appear to have a web presence. And no dealers are listed.
  3. I received this device and have had it playing for the past 3 hours or so. I will remove it to confirm what I am hearing but for now I am thrilled. I tried another ethernet isolator (see my findings early in this thread) but hated it. I have made a lot of changes since that review so I can't compare directly. However, the SOtM device is doing everything I hoped for: glorious dynamics (jump factor is great), improved staging and air, no problems with any diminution of any frequencies. Highly recommended. By the way I am using the infamous AQ Diamond ethernet cables so it isn't fixing a problem with cheap cables. I have a Regen on order and if the sound improves markedly beyond this I will be shocked. My goal is to get beyond my analog front-end (lp) sound quality with Redbook files, and I am feeling much closer.
  4. Yes, this works and I saved a link to it on my phone. Thanks. Needless to say that this will be a confusing situation to a lot of folks with iPhones.
  5. I have the app and it is fine, however, it doesn't show the main page of articles and I cannot get the main page of Computeraudiophile.com to come up on my iPhone 5s using Safari or Google - all I get is a blank screen. What am I doing wrong??
  6. I asked because I was worried about the 13.8v lpsu that I have causing a problem with the 12v motors on the drives. I still have no expert info there.
  7. I contacted Synology and they informed me in no uncertain terms that they would regard this as a 'third party modification' and that it would void my warranty. So that is that for my search for a LPSU.
  8. A related question to anyone who can help. I have a Synology DS213+ NAS and want to put a Linear PS on it. It requires 12v/6a of current. I have a Tekpower TP-1863 that supplies 13.8v and up to 10a. My question is - will the extra 1.8v cause problems with the harddrives - particularly the motors? I believe that the electronics can probably handle it but the motors might spin faster - causing early failure. Any thoughts?
  9. I am running JRiver 19 on Win 8 Pro using Fidelizer and remote desktop all on a Caps 3 Carbon with all the options, connected to an Auralic Vega dac. I experienced a consistent problem when playing cd rips. The first track of any given album (or any track played after stopping the previous one) would pause (for maybe 1/10th of a second) two or three times in the first couple of minutes of play and then play through to the end of the album without incident. This didn't happen with high rez tracks - PCM or DSD. I tried adjusting every option on JRiver and the dac, that I could find, that I thought could possibly have any bearing, over many months. All in vain. Then, yesterday when I was starting to write an entry on this forum seeking advice I had a new thought: what if I disconnected the music computer from my desktop machine by dropping the music computer from remote desktop and only using JRemote for a listening session (prior to my epiphany, I had been using JRemote while the two computers were connected). Amazingly (to me) this worked - no more pauses. But, I don't know why. Clearly, RDC caused major interference on the music server computer but it was only revealed on Redbook playback. Can someone explain this phenomenon? Has anyone else experienced the same problem? Gary
  10. Problem. I just upgraded to 8.1 and my driver for my Auricle Vega DAC no longer sees the device so cannot be installed. I have tried many times - turning it on and off, restarting the pc, etc. - to no avail. I am running a CAPS Carbon with the SOtM USB card. I did reinstall the SOtM driver and that USB port is working. I sent Auricle an email, but it is Sunday so I hope to get a reply on Monday. Ideas?
  11. I feel that an update to my findings is in order. I am returning the device to Japan. Careful listening left me feeling that the isolator does more harm than good. I am using a 30ft Cat 6 cable from the switch to the CAPS server, and the cable goes past many other cables and devices so is exposed to a good deal of electro-magnetic currents. This is what led me to believe that the isolator would be a good addition. Strangely enough, it was Michael Fremer's 10 phono cartridge shoot-out that shot the isolator. I listened to all of the needle-drops with and without the isolator and determined that the low frequencies were being diminished by the device, and overall I liked the sound better without it. So bye-bye RLI-1. YMMV
  12. Well, here is a bit of tech trivia - the answer to my question is maybe. I can't say that it was the incompatibility of the isolator with the 1gb lan that caused it to not work, but I can say that once I lowered the lan speed to 100mbs from 1gbs (both full duplex) the isolator worked immediately. Now to listen for changes. Thanks to everyone who responded - I couldn't have reached this point without your generosity of ideas.
  13. I wonder - my lan is running at 1gb is it likely that this device slows it down enough to stop the switch from communicating?
  14. I looked at both ends - just for the hell of it - and was surprised to see that the male end has only 5 of 8 connections fed by a wire. I looked at other cables and they were filled in completely. If you get the chance - how does yours look?
