  1. Turned out to be a faulty optical cable - last thing that I suspected.
  2. Ah, oops just had another close look in proper light, the LM4562NA is already fitted. Have to hope that the new adapter fixes the problem. No reply yet from Asus support.
  3. All very annoying. Hope that you can solve the problems. Mine was working yesterday but not now. Ordered a new mini adapter. On another site I saw a note that the Optical Amplifier is socketed and replacing it with LM4562NA makes a vast improvement, ordered one those too. The X-Fi is going back in.
  4. As your mobo is Asus too, it shouldn't be that. Try running TuneUp Utilities 2012 - there's a 15 day free trial from TuneUp Utilities 2012 | Speed Up and Optimize Your PC Is your driver PCI-DS-110512-7.12.8.1794 W7? My previous card was SB X-Fi Xtreme music, I think that the Xonar is better. You have some grand country around where you live.
  5. That's mighty odd. Are you totally sure that you have the drivers for your operating system? I installed the drivers from the disc and my pc locked too. Then I looked carefully and what I'd done is installed Vista 64-bit - I saw the 64-bit part but my eyes missed "Vista". Got Windows 7 64-bit drivers and all ok. It's been very good until yesterday, I blame that little plastic plug.
  6. Are you using the optical output? Mine has suddenly become erratic too and it appears to be the little optical plug shifting slightly, trying some Blu-tack as a temporary/permanent cure. Pc locking probably because of wrong drivers? Install disc that came with the kit does not have Win 7 drivers. Drivers off Asus site are fine.
