Hi, Certainly considering that route having browsed a few threads here and read about others' successes in that respect. Am based in the UK and parts are fairly cheap so the homespun route with passive cooling etc definitely appeals also. Cheers!

The Next C.A.P.S. Design Is Underway
dionisio replied to The Computer Audiophile's topic in Music Servers
If one of the next designs is going to be capable of running Mac OS X I might postpone my search for a Mini. This sounds like a very fun DIY project for the Christmas holiday! -
Hello, Not sure if this has been discussed already (couldn't find anything from a quick search), but is there any particular Mac Mini model/year that lends itself best to adaptation for a music server? I'm thinking along the lines of PSU - as I know this has changed from the early years. What are the differences here? Planning on swapping out the hard drive for an SSD and upgrading the RAM, so I'm thinking anything Core 2 Duo or above should be sufficient if its only job is serving files (which will be on an external HD, probably connected via Firewire). Obviously an i5 would be ideal for future-proofing but cost is an issue. Any knowledge will be greatly received! Cheers

Latest build 1.3.9.10 is doing the total opposite for me, skips and pops and stutters all over the place - whatever the settings. A reinstall of 1.3.9.9 fixes it immediately. Never had any serious issues before with these betas save for the odd kernel panic. Damn! (It's been reported to Damian so fingers crossed).

And the Audirvana debug stuff... PS. Looks like Integer Mode is working again in Mountain Lion...

I'm using version 1.3.9.7 of A+ and having Kernel Panic issues under Direct Mode in Mountain Lion. DAC is Metric Halo ULN-2, connected via Firewire. Computer is a 2010 iMac, with 12GB RAM. It's intermittent, but usually one per day under normal conditions. This affects both iTunes integrated and Playlist modes. Crash report as follows...
