Can you point me to any reference on what all the different kernels do please e.g. low latency but not RT etc?

I thought so....in fact I have just calculated the DR for most of my CD collection and I don't have any album above DR16! The "so far away" track off this album has a DR of 20.

My standard CD of this album sounds pretty good and has a dynamic range of DR16.....compared to most stuff today it's fantastic.

Do you know that Arcam do some sort of wireless connection kit (rWand) for the iPad that allows you to stream wirelessly from the iPad to the Arcam rDAC. That way you don't need to go USB and also allows you to be mobile (well around the house) with the iPad. I have never heard it but might be worth checking out?

I don't run AV on my music server but do take extra care about where I visit from this machine, Eloise advice is sound IMO VirusTotal provide a service that analyzes suspicious files and URLs and facilitates the quick detection of viruses, worms, trojans, and all kinds of malware detected by antivirus engines. Thanks all.....it certainly sounds much better than my CD copy of the same album although it would seem likely that an even better version could have been made available(from somewhere). I'll see if I can find out anything more about the source from HDTracks perhaps more in hope than anticipation. Would be nice if they published more of that type of information with the recording particularly for older recordings. Cheers Mike

Just downloaded the Steely Dan Gaucho album from HDTracks....I've attached a snapshot of Babylon Sisters. Could someone help me interpret this please....it doesn't seem to look like a true 96/24 recording does it? I can see there are extensions beyond 22k but it doesn't look quite right or is it my lack of understanding? Thanks Mike

I noticed in the discussion of Chris' article on the C.A.P.S. build that Chris mentioned a version 2 being created. I'm thinking of starting a build and wondered if there had been any update from the original dated 19h Feb 2010? Thanks Mike

Thanks.....I was looking at Origen's M10 case which is aluminium but quite expensive for the case alone compared to some other steel cases. I'll do some more digging!

I always thought that aluminium was preferred but read recently that it makes no difference and steel is just as good for a music server. Could anyone help with the pros and cons please? Thanks
