  1. in talking with someone at A.A. and checking the musical Fidelity website , other than the inputs, and the 32/192 specs, not sure of any of the specific differences between the II and the V-90. true, its only $50 difference, and that's gonna break me either way, i tell you, the sub $500 dac market moving pretty damn fast these days, and there are lots of great ones out there
  2. that was kinda my thinking, "better numbers" = "better sound" = more units sold, for my needs, i could save $50 and spend on more music lol
  3. or quibbles ?? lol, the reason for the question, is musical fidelity has come out with a new dac, to replace the vdac mkii, and it is a 32 bit 192kz upsampling dac at $300, and the v dac can be had for $250 clearance, just had me wondering
  4. i've a question. what, if any are the advantages, if any, of 32bit over 24bit dacs particularly if most listening is streamed via, mog, spotify, etc? my high resolution library is somewhat small , but it is growing, and what i do have now is 24/96 at best, and i'm using a windows based pc. thanks !
  5. some have said it in one way or the other : perception of "good" or "good enough" is in the eye of the beholder. i can't,nor do i care to define "audiophile" , now can i get hung up on having the "best" equipment, or having the "best" source, yeah, guilty, for me, and speaking for only me, thats my ego talking, not my love of music. my head can bop, my toes can tap, and often have, to "regular" mainstream, mass market stuff. deep down, i'm still the kid with the transistor radio, up past his bedtime, listening to the beatles, or james brown , while hiding under the covers. yeah, mp3 at 320, can get the job done for me
  6. well, i got the microstreamer !, i'm really, really happy with the sound, i had been interested in the dacport as well, i had read so much about how it sounded refined, relaxed, airy. being that my headphones are grado's, the 225, and alessandro ms1's i was worried about getting a dac/amp that might be bright. well, all concerns have been put to rest, i love the microstreamer. i'd still like to hear the dacport, but the microstreamer isn't going anywhere, as for heat, mine has been on almost 24hrs straight, burning in the ms1's, no heat at all here, its not even warm
  7. no, not yet, had to put upgrades off for a while, hopefully will hear the dragonfly soon
  8. bob, good to see you're still enjoying the modi ! I had to put off my dac purchase as i had some unexpected financial issues arise the required my "play" money !! lol so, back to my fiio e10 for now, going to start the process over again soon !
  9. Read the review earlier, I'm very pleased, and looking for a headamp now
  10. OHHHHHH, and the sound gets better as it breaks in bob !!
  11. glad you have music bob !! i haven't had a single hiccup yet i too have noticed jasons replies being brief, i assume he's pretty busy getting the schiit out ! lol i'm very familiar with the trinity sessions, haven't listened in a while, i'm gonna check it out right now !! i don't have the magni, i'm using a tube head amp right now, deciding on it, or maybe the magni next
  12. well, the d1 is being returned ! the d1 is good, is more flexible, convenient, BUT the modi just flat out sounds better ! takes a while to burn in, but by the second day, there was a noticeable difference, the coldness, hardness was gone, i'm trying a cheap chinese tube head amp , which i'm very impressed with for under $80, but it may be making a quick trip back to try the magni !!
  13. yeah, lets us know bob i've had the modi about a week, and love it ! i've emailed jason twice with questions, he got back to me real quick !
  14. the hardness, brightness that i noticed on the modi initially, is softening , when i've switched back to the d1, it sounds slightly veiled, congested, where the modi is spacious, clear, better control of the bass. while i like the d1, love the volume control, i very much prefer the sound of the modi, i believe its the keeper, i'm still gonna hang on to it a couple more days, while i investigate a headphone amp, and believe me, the magni is at the top of the list !
  15. "ripoff" is in the eyes, the ears of the beholder. as i sit here listening to the schiit modi, ripoff is about the last thing that comes to mind !!
