  1. My issue has changed a bit. I got Tidal to play through Bubble by using a different login name; the old one had expired. (Error messages? We don't got no stinking error messages. ) Now the issue is that I can play Tidal through Bubble on my phone and cast to my Marantz renderer but not to my new Auralic Altair renderer. When I try to play a track when the AA renderer is selected Bubble automatically switches to Local Renderer after a few pushes on the track I'm trying to play. I am directing a query to Auralic but I suspect there is more expertise on Bubbleupnp here.
  2. I have an issue with BubbleUpnp. I have loaded Tidal as a Cloud server to Bubbleupnp. I enter my login name and password in the Tidal settings as well as my streaming rate and I bring up the Tidal page in Bubble. When I select a track it comes up as Now Playing but it wont start playing either on my Samsung S9 or either of the devices that I try to cast to. No error messages. I don't get any feedback after I enter my password or even a wrong password. I am able to play and cast my NAS files on Bubble and I can use the Tidal app to play tracks on my Android but of course i can't cast Tidal to my other playback devices. Does anyone have an idea of what's wrong?
  3. Okay! I found the instructions on how to run Tidal. After I upgraded to firmware version 2.7 and installed the Linn Kazoo app I got Tidal to run. I also found that Spotify will also run although at a much reduced volume through my USB 1.0 connection. The sound on Tidal is fantastic even running MP3. The microRendu is fun to play around with but I can't see using it in a normal life. To play from my NAS I have to first go online to switch the output to DLNA and then use BubbleUpNp to play files. To play Tidal I have to go to the network and make sure the output is set correctly and then go to Kazoo, not Tidal, to play Tidal. To play Spotify I have to go online and change the output to Spotify, then go to Spotify, change the output to microRendu and then play. Jesus, if you would just automate the handshaking process for each of the output types you would have a worthy product that the average person could use, not just geeks like me.
  4. Jesus, I am going to give Tidal a try. I have subscribed and downloaded their app to my Android. I also have BubbleUpNp on my Android. As stated above I have a Twonky Server on my NAS. The microRendu is set up and switched to DLNA. How do I send Tidal to the microRendu?
  5. Thanks for the info guys. I just got my Microrendu. It works fine with BubbleUpNp. However, when I set the output to Spotify using the AppSwitcher under the Apps tab and go to Connect to a Device in Spotify, I see the Rendu under the list of devices. When I click on Rendu Spotify shows a connecting indicator but fails to connect. So I guess this is normal since Jesus stated above that Spotify is currently not working. Is this a Spotify thing that they have to correct or a Sonore thing that they haven't caught up with? Jesus suggested using Tidal but I don't see it in any of the menus. Does Tidal just run on the DLNA renderer? Thanks, Rick
  6. Thanks for your response. FYI Hi-ficast is an Android app similar to BubbleUpNp but with access to internet radio without the use of a separate app. It took less than 10 minutes to download and get running with my current streamer.
  7. Greeting, I am about to get a Microrendu. Can you answer the following questions: 1. Is it compatible with my WD NAS that has a Twonky server? 2. Your literature indicates the Spotify interface has been in beta form for three years, is it still not ready for prime time? 3. Do I need the latest version of Sonicorbiter to get Spotify? 4. Do I need to reconfigure the Microrendu mode with my computer each time I switch between BubbleUpnp and Spotify? 5. Will HifiCast work on the Microrendu? Thanks, Rick
  8. Has anyone heard or read a review of the Elac Alchemy DDP-2? I have a complex system that includes an Apogee Mini DAC, a 4 to 2 Toslink switch, a Marantz 6005 network player and a Conrad Johnson tube preamp; all of which require a programmable remote control just to switch them on with the correct input settings. The DDP-2 would replace all those separate components and hopefully simplify things so that my wife could turn the system on by herself. I will pop for one as soon as I hear some favorable comments from first hand listeners. The DDP-1 has received some favorable comments. I wonder if I'm hoping for too much that the DDP-2 sounds as good as the DDP-1.
  9. I am considering buying an Auralic Altair. It has only one coax input with an RCA socket. I need two. It has an AES input with an XLR socket. 1. Can this be fed from a coax feed using a digital coax cable with RCA jacks and an RCA to XLR adapter? I have such an adapter with the negative RCA connected to XLR pins 1 and 3 and positive to pin 2. It worked on the "balanced" input for a Musical Fidelity M1DAC. 2. Are "balanced" and "AES" the same? 3. Is there an AES standard for which pins carry positive, negative and ground? Does anyone have an authoritative response?
  10. I just tried BubbleUpnp on my Android and Marantz NA6005--SUCCESS!!! It streams music from my NAS without cutting out after the end of one album and it orders the tracks on the albums correctly. The Marantz Hifi Remote app screws up both of those functions. I can also stream Tidal and Qobuz which Marantz won't do. I have to use the Spotify App rather than BubbleUpnp for that service--too bad. I haven't figured out how to get internet radio on BubbleUpnp but I can easily use the NA6005 faceplate controls to dial in my favorite stations. To anyone with an NA6005 I can heartily recommend BubbleUpnp for the functions above. Too bad I can't get everything in one app. I guess that's what Roon is for but it won't install on my NAS. I'm going to pass on the Chromecast Audio--too many gadgets and my system already requires me to maintain a single line diagram of all the devices connected to it.
  11. I will give Bubbleupnp a try when I return from vacation. Thanks for all the info. Too bad I didn't know the limitations of my NAS before I bought it.
  12. Miguel, Much grass for the invaluable advice and information. I plan to try the Chromecast as soon as I return from vacation.
  13. WD Mycloud. Do you think Roon can install on it? It has Twonky on it now. Would Roon replace Twonky or can they reside together?
  14. Thanks for the suggestion. Let's see if I'm understanding you. I take a Chromecast device, connect it to my LAN via ethernet, and connect it to my DAC via Toslink. I looked at the Chromecast audio device and didn't see a Toslink connection, and the streaming is limited fo 96k. I didn't see a Toslink connection on the other two Chromecast devices I looked at. Which model were you recommending? By the way I have an older Roku that is superb for indexing and streaming my hirez files up to 192k to a Toslink output but it converts the files to 48k and possibly to Mp3 (I can't find documentation on this).
  15. Because the NA6005 doesn't stream Tidal or other high rez services and it's phone app for streaming from my NAS is essential but buggy. It's great for Spotify because it uses the Spotify phone app.
