  1. my budget is $1500. was quoted $1395 for the REL today with 2 yr warranty. other dealer i checked, price was bit higher with only 1 year warranty. it's weird dealers are promoting these prices as "bargain reduced from $1600 rrp" etc when sumiko says different.
  2. Looking for a sub around $1500 price range to compliment a 2 channel stereo setup. It will be used for movies but primarily care about musical performance rather than boom factor. Had decided on REL T9 but some other recommendations have now given me 3 options to consider- - REL T9 - Dynaudio Sub 300 - Velodyne DS-10 They are all around the 1500 mark and from what I hear they are all decent subs. Only problem is unable to trial any of these on my system without committing the cash first due to conditions of Returns Policy. Any thoughts / pro's / cons from experience using the above subs? Thanks for your time!
  3. that was my mistake, not dealers then. i was reading the owners manual - it was the same online manual for BP 20 / BP 25 so must've confused the 2. cheers for the clarification.
  4. as far as the interconnects thing goes, i decided to go with a cheaper option and got audioquest snakes (i think?). were 50 a pop but picked up for 32 each. next up from those were the cobras @100 a pop even the sales rep agreed there was not $146 worth of noticeable quality improvement between the snakes and the cobras. plus i figured i can trade up later on if wanting something more. the guy who sold me the rest of my gear was trying to push the kimber XLR's to run from pre to power already knowing that I primarily will be using V-DAC which requires RCA as no XLR output. i thought it sounded a bit odd he would suggest this solution and my thoughts were confirmed by the bloke who sold me the snakes. starting to wonder bout some of these audio dealers... first pushing the transparent audio with the dodgy banana plug, second convincing me to buy a $300 XLR cable of no real benefit to my setup and backing up his advice with an argument that made no sense to me or the other bloke i retold it to, and thirdly he give me any speaker cones for my b&w's and neither of the amps i bought came with a remote control as they should have and at no point did he think to tell me remote missing... hmmmmmmm...
  5. funny you should say that man. picked up all this gear today because i WAS going to go with audioquest DBS cables you mentioned as outlined in my original posting above but not to worry :-P anyway ge there today and audio bloke says nah take these transparent audio wave 100 cables instead much better much better worth 100 more than audioquest new model newer model. i really liked the audioquest as that was what i had auditioned the gear using but i trusted his judgement and said yeah whatever got home go to hook my new gear and bizarrely, one of the banana plug connectors on the wave 100 cable terminates noticeably (5-10mm at a guess) shorter than the other 3 plugs?! i hooked it up anyway as was very keen to have a listen to my new setup, i get audio from left speaker but nothing from right (one with the dodgy banana plug). it all ended with some really harsh static noise hiss coming from the right speaker and still no music at all so i powered down the gear and went out. will isolate issue in the morn but what you think could've happened there? i guess it could also be a cabling / connection issue somewhere else but coincidental re dodgy banana plug yeah? disappointing first listening experience overall but he did say if i didn't like the transparent audio i could still do swaps for the AQ's. see how we go... cheers for your replies. how do you close a thread on this forum?
  6. hi! recently purchased some quality gear from an audio reseller and need quality interconnects for DAC to preamp and also preamp to power amp. seeing as tho this is my first attempt at a setup of this calibre I am a bit’ve a noob and have no idea what high end cables I need for my high end gear. I listen to a varied range of music overall however primarily listen to rock, metal, electronic (not even sure that matters for interconnects? :-P) I listen to a lot of lossless music via computer windows 7 / j river media centre 17 so quality of DAC output is important to me. setup so far- - b&w nautilus 803 Speakers - bryston BP 20 preamp - bryston 4B ST power amp - musical fidelity V-DAC - pangea P-100 external PSU for V-DAC - audioquest dbs cv 6 speaker cable - REL T9 subwoofer (buying this today. Will this come with necessary cables etc?) audio guy suggested kimber timbre interconnects but looking for other suggestions. if I were to go kimber is timbre a good choice or should I look at hero or cadence? balanced XLR or unbalanced RCA connecters? does the quality of the optical or SPDIF connecting computer to DAC have an influence on the overall sound? Sorry for my noob-ness. thanks for your time!
