  1. Look at this on eBay: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=201003880227 Non-Oversampling NOS DAC TDA1543 DIR9001 SPDIF Coax Optical dual 9V NiMH w/charg I love tda1543 with DIR9001
  2. Hey hey hey!!! Just want to get back, your solution works for me!! So to old macbook users, this is our fix! ?
  3. I just checked Qobuz, it's not available yet here in the US. I agree about Spotify, my wife loves to play some italian instrumental (and IIRC Edith Piaf) as well as french jazz. And this is where I like Spotify more. It's kinda nice to discover music in one site too.
  4. *Great audiophile sound does not have to be expensive. AGREE! As I dont frequent the site, I have no idea that certain people preach what they believe. lol Is DSD sound really that night and day difference over hi-res? I dont think we have a dealer here in CLE that have DSD capable DAC.. BUt I'm dying to sample the future of the recording...
  5. IME most of the time pure direct is better with music reproduction. BUt with Audyssey I suggest you try their setting. BUt that means you are bypassing the DAC and therefore don't need one. Let us know what's better. I always like DENON sound..
  6. I've been meaning to share my experience and a short vid but I'm always forgetting. The sound quality of spotify is actually decent on my system. I tried SPOTIFY premium which supposedly has higher bitrate but ended up cancelling the membership since I only hear minimal difference. Granted my system's output is limited to a 16 bit sound. As to why I opted for non-oversampling DAC -- personal preference on music played and I love the sound. http://youtu.be/Q0r70VdK8Js I dont know how to preview a youtube link. What do you guys think?
  7. my set-up is ancient. lol. 1 meter usb (usb to spdif converter) and 1 meter coaxial to DAC.
  8. to my ears my budget system is the best compromise of all attributes i want. i customized it to my liking. the best... for me
  9. -via internal speaker YES.. not tried optical since I have no plans of using it. -you know what, I'm actually gonna say that the other USB port is not working.. I only tried via USB connection on the dacmagic
  10. try to check audiogon if they have previous listings. for $100-200 there is a NOS DAC that have some head-fi member are talking about Bryston BDA-1 DAC vs Muse DAC: Reviewed I actually bought one just to try.. lol.. heck for $55 its cheap..
  11. YES I did.. I guess I just have to deal with 16/44.1 rez then.. ANyway, more question.. In Decibel, when I set the preference to max bit-- it adjust everything to 24/48.. Since I plan to buy just a NOS DAC, should I adjust it 16/44.1 only?
  12. UPDATE!! I visited a local audio store and tried my macbook with their dacmagic.. NO SOUND AT ALL!!! the signal was being passed to the DAC (I guess) because when I fiddle with sample rate, the dacmagic indicates it on the front panel.. hmmmm.. ***If I have a defective USB board, will the signal pass thru? or nothing at all? Thanks
