  1. These are the other ones I was seriously considering. I've heard a ton of great reviews for them. To be honest, if this system were going anywhere else, I would definitely consider at least a DAC. However, at work there is also a good amount of ambient noise, and it's really not the ideal listening envionment. I'm just looking to setup something a bit better than what I have now. I'll most likely replace the speakers first and audition the sound for a bit before I put any more money into it. Thank you all for your suggestions so far!
  2. Hello, world! I am looking to put a 2.0 or 2.1 system on my computer at work. I'm hoping to find a great sounding setup, but am not looking to go overboard as it may have to put up with some abuse and firm handling. I don't want to spend a few thousand greenbacks on something I would have to stress over, and if I get a craving for real sound quality I can always bring in my headphones and portable USB amp / dac. My budget is between $250 - $500, but I would prefer to stay on the lower end. The computer only has standard on-board sound, and I'm not looking to setup a dedicated card. This will be playing electronic music about 90% of the time, and will be playing in a room roughly 25'x25' with high ceilings (3 stories?). I was hoping to find a setup which will allow me to turn up the volume for everyone, but not distort or fade out terribly on the other side of the room. I am completely open to ideas at this point, but I have heard great things about the Swan M200MkII speakers ( Swan M200MkII active desktop loudspeaker system ). However, I was wondering whether a 2.0 setup will provide a good amount of bass for this size room? I don't want anything muddy or flabby sounding, but I would prefer something with a bit of oomp to it. Any and all advice is very much welcomed
