  1. View Classified Holo May KTE - Excellent I don't need to go into the Superlatives of this DAC. I'm selling because I upgraded to a better DAC. That DAC costs $19000. I was going to use this DAC for my second system as I did not want to lose it but, we hardly play the second system and... I want new speakers. It's too good a DAC for a second system IMO. I can find no marks on this DAC. I have all of the original packaging. I'm MichaelHiFi on Audiocircle, desalvo55 on AG, and MichaelHiFi on WhatsBestForum and of course MichaelHiFi here. Seller MichaelHiFi Date 03/20/23 Price 4,500.00 USD Category Digital to Analog Converters
  2. View Classified Spatial Audio X3's Open Baffle speakers - Price Lowered I’m selling my Spatial X3’s. They are brilliant speakers and open baffle has been my goto medium. There are plenty of glowing reviews out there. Here’s one of mine using the Allnic D-10000 as the topic of conversation. https://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=184026.new;topicseen#new There are no footers included in this sale. I played around with a few different sets and settled on Isoacoustics. The thread size is M8. The speakers are perfect except for a factory defect barely noticeable in the frame. I’ve included a picture showing this defect. Local pickup is preferred as shipping expenses have gotten - expensive. I have all the original boxes and packaging. I am located in Southern Utah and can deliver within a reasonable distance. Seller MichaelHiFi Date 03/10/23 Price 5,900.00 USD Category Speakers
  3. Thank you for the tips. Using Room, I only had HQPlayer enabled. Without Room and dropping a music file inside HQP I get a bar where blue moves left to right to left to right..forever unless I force quit. I get no status inside HQP nor can I perform any action with HQP. Historically speaking, I'm one of those iTunes haters. So I've used MediaMonkey (which no longer works for some reason) and just downloaded iMazing to transfer a few music files to the iMac. They actually play on the iMac. How about that... Thanks again.
  4. I'm running HQPlayer on the iMac as well as Roon. I'm using HQPlayer inside of Roon. My main system using this same setup only with a dedicated finless Windows PC. No problems there. But with the iMac or, MAC OS - problems.
  5. Having built a second system I was hopeful to use our iMac to control my ultrarendu/etherregen/Small Green Computer - Roon/HQPlayer streamer. But I can't get a handshake. I can see the Rendu and the SGC through NAA inside HQP but it fails to play in Roon. Returning to HQP, I find it frozen. The is a repeatable process which forces me to force quit the HQP app. I've fiddled with the settings off and on for weeks now thinking (knowing perhaps) that I'm missing some basic MAC setting as is, I'm having a continued senior absence of thought. Due to being not so good at MAC OS, I cannot find the 'hidden' log file. Thanks for any help out there.
  6. Thanks barrows, I'm sure you know far better than I. I use dbpoweramp which has been my goto ripping software for who knows how long. And I use the most secure settings for what's that worth. The CD mechanism is built around the StreamUnlimited CD–Pro 8 CD drive mechanism and servo system CD-84. This transport has a user community on Whatsbestforum that I trust thus pulled the trigger on the Pro-ject. I wanted to compare a cd transport to my streaming setup that I've spent a ridiculous amount of time "setting up". I would NEVER EVER recommend a streaming setup like mine to anyone I know unless they are totally dedicated to spending countless hours with getting stuff working. I have 5 different network cables to compare built into this audio room. There are simply to many ways to get trapped in the delivery rather than simply enjoying ones music. I spend way to much time listening and comparing to simply enjoying. (now if I can find out why I'm getting dropouts I didn't have days ago..) Damn and I was really enjoying poly-sync-gauss-xla! The power supply I use for the Transport is the LTA unit built for the RS2-T. It is connected to a Puritan PSM 156 that takes power from Triode Labs Obsessions to a Fururtech GTX-xxyy. receptacle to a dedicated circuit. I have a BPT 2KW transformer that is waiting for a ground system. The yardwork comes first... And I doubt I'll hear a difference. I'll do it because it's a hobby. My last listening session ended with my wife saying the transport sounding much better than my digital system. My feelings were hurt. And now I need to work on filters. But I am in all honesty enjoying CD's again. I had become a slave to my playlists. I have discovered more music since I've made the tenuous return to those shiny discs.
  7. I'm curios. Have you comparted the Pro-ject RS2-T to a ripped file? What system did you listen to it on to come to that conclusion? We have been comparing those 2 methods here and although we are also comparing an AES input cable to a USB input cable on the May, we do find the CD transport to be more immediate in scale and different in staging. Wife prefers the transport and I go back and forth. I'm no digital expert but it would seem to me that if a SOTA laser mechanism might render data better than the computers laser assembly disc player. I do wish that the Pro-ject had I2S output that worked with the May. It might be a more accurate assessment.
  8. I'm using a Project RS2-T transport. The Project utilizes the blue tiger servo board which is arguably the best. Took a long time to get here but it's a keeper. It's interesting to compare a well read CD to a ripped computer file that used an extremely low dollar transport. It's not apples to apples through the May but close. USB vs AES. Don't know of a way to connect to a PC. The Project has optical and coax out as well as the aforementioned AES. Its I2S output can only be used with another Project device. Sucks in that regard.
  9. Yes. In my system, the Muon USB cable seems to act like a filter allowing me to bypass all the network devices. I tried a SoTM USB card some months ago but it had issues so I abandoned that idea. before I received the CD Transport, the finest expression of a song I‘be heard in my system to that date was Muon USB plugged into the ultrarendu and its supported devices NOS. But then I changed that setup looking for even better. I may need a therapist.
  10. I’ve been experimenting with many avenues of feeding the May KTE. As I had mentioned, the NA Muon has been my USB go to cable. Then I’d finally received the Pro-next RS-T transport. At, first listen it sounded dreadful, even through the May. But it matured and challenged my digital streaming system. So, removing HQP, ultrarendu, etherregen, lps’s Roon, network switches, cables, and pc’s, I spin shiny discs - again. The transport does not have USB out and It did not have a usable I2S output (bummer as I was counting on using Mays I2S input). It does have AES but I still don’t have a AES spec’s cable. It has optical and coax outpost as well. I’m using mostly a very good balanced cable 75ohm I believe which is not the correct cable but, sounds great anyway. I’m hopeful to have a proper cable in a few days. There are obvious differences between all these implementations. I can’t declare a clear winner on my system because of the incredible amount of variables, especially with regards to HQP filters and all the network junk in between. My digital streaming system now bypasses NA and goes direct to computer. So HQP, Roon using Holo May driver. And it sounds amazing to us. I’m sure I spend to much time tweaking my system. Different platforms, footers, cables, and vibration techniques. I rationalize all this time spent claiming it’s a hobby. In general though, we often seem to escalate the beauty of the music. I would love to hear many of this forum members systems just to hear what you were able to extract from your May DAC. Happy Listening
  11. I've tried a number of USB cables and the ones that stood out were the Supra excalibur and the Network Acoustics Muon. The Muon won my heart and killed my checking account. The Muon also changed how I setup my digital streaming system. I now go from computer motherboard USB out to May KTE USB in (Muon cable) using NOS mode. Formally it was DSD256, HQPlayer, Ultrarendu, etherregen... Of course there are so many variables. I need to put the Supra USB cable up for sale. I found it pretty close to the Muon ABing but I kept on removing the Supra for the Muon as it played so well in NOS. I have not heard most of the other popular USB Cables. Good luck.
  12. I had settled on HQPlayer ADSME7 (I think) DSD256 and found it quite good. But after receiving the Network Acoustics Muon USB cable I'm happy with bypassing my network jungle and going straight from computer USB out to May. And now that I have the Project RST-2 CD transport, I found I slightly prefer the transport. I just received the LTA linear power supply for the transport and found that the LPS had dramatically changed the presentation. Sound now favors the midrange and is far more relaxed. I continue to get great separation of instruments and vocals. The vocals especially are so smooth, so real sounding, but this comes at a cost. It feels that the dynamics have suffered. There's not as much texture and seems that the highs are a bit rolled off. Bass too, doesn't seem to reach the lower octaves as it does with the switching power supply. It's a split decision. We love how smooth and effortless and so much like a extremely good turntable might play it but I sort of miss the finer details and dynamics that was present with the switching power supply. Maybe break-in will return some or all of those nuances. The May KTE continues to amaze. It always plays well no matter what method of digital input is used. It does not truncate anything by itself it merely outputs what is input. I know now after so many setups through the May, it feels world class. Although I've listened and owned many other Dac's including the top of the line MSB (which was amazing and many years ago), I can't say the May plays at that level of excellence. I wish I had an MSB or DCS to compare. I'm hopeful to have the Lumin X1 soon to compare if my buddy who owns one visits. Anyone care to visit southern Utah and wants a dac shootout?
  13. It's all I found in my stash of cables. I changed to a Zero audio balanced interconnect but - it is still wrong. I was thinking of sending the RS2 back. Not anymore. This CD transport dramatically changed with break-in. The missing lower octaves have returned and now integrate with the music. I will revisit this component tonight with my wife and her choice of music. She's got big ears. Now with LPS and cable upgrade, could get ridiculously good. Thanks for cables suggestions. Nordest, Network Acoustics and who knows the SilverSonic low cost is on the table. I think my coax is in fact a SilverSonic and is playing extraordinary. Do I really need a cable?...
  14. Thanks Barrows. I'll look at that. Using optical right now. Can switch to my 50ft balanced but need to locate a true 75Ohm cable. Any recommendations? Right now as I listen I get no bass, that is, seemingly (brain measurement) nothing below 45Hz. Sounds great above that but when the foundation is missing, so is the song.
  15. Well there are significant differences. https://www.leadsdirect.co.uk/technical-library/pinouts-wiring-diagrams/hdmi-wiring/ The HDMI specification has come with much criticism. Just trying to get an HDMI cable to p[lay with my projector to NAD prepro has been massively frustrating. Please excuse my ah.. disappointment but I guess I missed the technical meeting at Pro-ject headquarters when they decided to use the i2S acronym to only apply to their brand. "Well, we don't play with those on the right channel only those on the left channel". Our (My May) has 2ea I2S inputs. The RST-2 has an IS2 output but only plays to their components? I don't get it. I waited 10 months for this box. Of course I can use optical, coax and AES to the May. It just doesn't sit right with me and I guess this post is my rant. I'm missing RCA.
