  1. Unfortunately no. I saw the post reproduced on another board and posted it here. Now that I look on the Ponomusic community, I cannot find this. Perhaps it has been removed, or the post from another board is false/phoney. If so, my apologies. Or perhaps I just can't find it on the Ponomusic community...not the easiest board to navigate.
  2. Harvest and Storytone are available now in 24/192. More Hi-Res Neil Young to be available in two weeks: Neil Young (PonoMusic) My first officialrelease series LPs 1-14 will all be available PONO on DEC 23, in 192 and some cases 176. Beginning with NEIL YOUNG, ending with REACTOR. Thanks, Enjoy!
  3. Pono sent out an update last night to its Kickstarter backers (which I am one of). They mentioned they are working through some issues (errors) with pricing, and stated "If you see an album where the pricing seems too high, odds are that it is going to be resolved shortly." I imagine this will all be resolved before the site goes public (mid-December the last I heard).
  4. Hmm...maybe for CD quality. But from what I've read (I don't yet have access) 24/96 albums are $17.99.
  5. The price has gone up from a few weeks ago when I bought it. I paid about $28 with tax. That is a bit steep. It is 22 tracks, however.
  6. Another Ticket sounds nice. Had to turn up the bass a bit, but easy enough to do. I have most of the recent Clapton HD releases and posted the DR #s for all the ones I have on the DR Database. Some are better than others, but I am happy with all of them.
  7. I like it quite a bit, provided I'm in the mood for a mellow album. Sounds nice in 24/192.
  8. Acoustic Soundss still has 'Time Out Of Mind' in 24/44.1. I like this version. I believe it is the same mastering as the cd, just in hi-res (DR 12).
  9. The 5.1 track on the Blu Ray audio is fantastic...much, much better than the stereo (which I also found disappointing). I ripped the 5.1 from my Blu Ray and converted the files to stereo using Foobar2000.
  10. There most certainly was a fee, for a time. I paid 20 cents per track to upgrade iTunes purchases from 128kbs to 256kbs.
  11. Nice review. Looks like I'll be picking up the 24/192 as well. Door To Door, while certainly their weakest effort, has some very good songs. "Go Away" is a great Ben Orr track, as is "Everything You Say." Other favorites of mine are "Fine Line" and "Strap Me In." Thanks again.
  12. Excuse my ignorance, but in your estimation, do the second set of graphs indicate there is information above 96kbps? I see these albums are dynamic, but how do they sound?
  13. I pre-ordered one via Kickstarter. Besides being happy to take a leap of faith and support the cause, a portable hi-res player is perfect for me to listen to daily at work. The fact that it is bigger that a phone or the length of battery life also mostly don't matter to me due this being the primary use of the player. I currently listen at work to a few iPod classics filled with 24/48 with a good pair of Seinheiser headphones. I fully expect the Pono to provide a significant increase in sound quality. I guess I'll see in October. Also very interested to see what shows up in the Pono store and how the titles are mastered.
  14. Our host has already mentioned on this thread, any discussions of hi-res vs non-hires is off-topic and therefore should NOT occur on this thread. Another thread can be created if you desire.
  15. Disagree on all points. A subjective glass all-empty perspective stated as fact. Also, not giving the Pono team any benefit of the doubt. Neil has mentioned getting better masterings from the record companies. Whether this happens, who knows? But let's give them a chance. BTW, I do think hi-res files are much better that 16/44.1, all other variables being equal. And not because Neil Young says so. I believe this because I can hear the difference on my system, and would very much like a portable player that can also take advantage of the benefits of hi-res. Not all hardware can. But, as Chris has already mentioned, this thread is not for discussing CD vs Hi-res and double-blind testing.
