  1. I've never heard of this company, but it looks really intriguing! I love the weirdness of the website ha. How do you like your product?
  2. Hmm... not sure. I'm new to this whole audiophile thing. I previously owned a Moon 300 DAC, but I recently sold it when they upgraded the model to fully asynchronous. I think it was balanced XLR? Thanks for the help! Anthony
  3. Hi Computer Audiophile Community, I'm in the market for a new DA/C, and I was wondering if the forum had any suggestions for a well-made component under $1000 that has balanced outs. One, of course, that would go well with my current setup. Current setup: Macbook Pro + Audirvana Moon 340i Vienna Mozart Grand SE Best! Anthony
  4. When you say that upsampled music sounds different, which adjectives come to mind? I mainly listen to classical music, just fyi. In the end, as you suggested, I suppose I'll have to try both out and decide for myself. I have pretty keen ears - just graduated with a Masters of Music [Many thanks, again. I really appreciate all the help everyone has given me on this board. I wish I could return the favor!]
  5. Thanks again for all the help. As further clarification, the music I'm listening to is almost exclusively Apple Lossless Files, not HDaudio. I was informed by an audio specialist that it is best, when listening to Lossless files through Amarra+DAC, it is best to retain the native 16bit/44.1k sample rate via USB, and that up sampling Lossless files would be foolish. Is this true? Was that poor advice?
  6. Many Thanks! I'm enjoying Amarra very much, it's been a wonderful addition to my listening experience. Best, Anthony
  7. Thanks so much, I really appreciate it!
  8. Thank you all, so much, for the help. I guess I'll look into the Toslink cable as a starting point. If anyone else has any opinions on cables for my current set up, I'm more than happy to listen! Anthony
  9. Awesome, thanks so much. I noticed that Mini Toslink to Toslink cables tend to be rather cheap in price. Is this a concern? Are there nice ones out there, and would it make a difference?
  10. Okay, great, thank you! So which type of cable connection would be optimal for my setup?
  11. Thank you so much for the response, I really appreciate it. I should have listed my speakers, they are NOLA Boxers. I've got music playing! The simaudio DAC I have accepts input up to 192k, but I have no idea how to "upgrade' the input to 96k or 192k. Do you need an aftermarket sound card or some sort of magical cable to do so? I'm obviously missing something here.
  12. Hi there! I'm new to all of this audiophile business (in high school), and I would like to get more out of my current set up. I've had very little luck calling companies and searching the web for help, and I was wondering if somebody could explain to me how to do so, in layman's' terms. I've tried, to no avail, to figure out how to upgrade my sampling rate past 44.1, but it isn't an available option in my audio midi set up. Should the answer be obvious, I apologize for not knowing any better. I'm more than open to upgrading components, but nothing more than $500 for the moment. I'm currently running: Macbook pro 15 (2011) 10.7.4 Amarra Audioquest Cinnamon USB Simaudio 100 Dac Simaudio i1 int. amp My files are apple lossless. Many thanks in advance, Anthony
