1. I'm not talking about rowmote...I'm referring to the remote in amarra...in extras?
2. The remote control doesn't work either in playlist or cache mode...it works normally for skipping tracks but not in either if those modes...
3. Ok so a shambles of an upgrade to version 2...using amarra remote causing software to crash completely found a new wonderful bug... I'm using a Weiss dac2 which i occasionally use for movies etc now when I go back to the Mac mini via FireWire amarra is playing wayyyy to fast...like something ridiculous bit like chipmunks pop...when i exit amarra back to normal..trouble is now what i do now it plays too fast...restart...quit...restart...still the fucking chipmunks... Now I am so sick of this I can't even muster up a foul cursing response...I hate amarra bugs with the passion of a thousand knives...really its so shit I hate it hate it hate it... Amarra you can shove it...turned it off...staying off... wanna free copy...shout now before I send it packing in the bin...
4. If it was free I agree...if you pay for something it should work right?? I've got the arse about it because these quality issues are not an isolated incident...I've had less hot dinners than the amount of times I've had to relaunch amarra because of some bug...Also I work in software and this is beyond a joke..
5. So sonics release strategy is like a friends and family/beta release....I'm serious...sounds like they deliberately release crap....that is almost palatable...if they called it a beta version and await feedback then that is basically what's going on here.. Either way that marketing is poor...it simply doesn't work...or for the bucks it sucks...would be my suggestion... Come on Jon...you must do better...
6. Give me a product that actually works please....EVERY release of amarra has problems....It's just so bloody tiring..
7. I think it just represents a real poor approach to the product..its hardly got s million functions....more poor quality issues...appalling IMHO
8. No. Amarra....has a program in extras called remote....it's to use the apple remote to slide the volume etc....it doesn't work now with the new version...great
9. Absolutely fucking pathetic. Amarra mini doesn't work with remote. Press fwd and it crashes every time....seriously get a grip. Release software that has actually been tested and works...amarra is complete bollox IMHO....what have I paid for...yippee let's wait for the bug fix....can ihave a refund on this toss please Reverted back to old version...seriously this is primary school software....I work in software and you would be out of job in less than 12 seconds New marketing strap line.....I suggest... "Amarra...is just doesnt work..."
10. Ridiculous. The main point of getting into computer audio is a very modest outlay that blows most £10k cd machines out of the water. This set-up misses the point entirely. I really don't want to see £35k computer audio solutions...when you can get amazing results at a fraction of that. Of course it sounds great.. But personally I think this is not what this site is about and I don't like the commercial angles creeping in here. What's next £10k USB cables?

Keep it real chris
11. Wow some comments 10 months later..lol! Ok I used my iMac into the Opus21 via a Hag USB adapter and later using the optical output of the iMac and using a optical/coax converter...happy to report the mac into the Opus 21 sounded a tiny bit better imho than the transport...certainly not worse..the opus21 is a great flexible player...cd player/dac and pre all at the same time! anyway that started the ball rolling on my CA travels... I ordered the Weiss Blind and have to say it blows the opus21 out of the water by a long long margin...the opus21 has a charm of its own and if i wanted a CD player I would go back to it as I owned 2 along with an Esoteric X03 and dCS P8i....it works great with valves and above all else sounds natural unlike the X03 and dCS...the Weiss competes with the best of em regarding transparency but retains the natural and real perfromance without the exagerated picture I think the X03 gives.... The rest as they say is history.... System is now Mac Mini/Amarra/Weiss DAC2
12. Been Reading up on Daniel Weiss's argument... I've been using the Weiss Digital volume control and finally managed to get the Amarra working so the little plastic remote works to control the volume (Joy!)...anyway the Amarra volume control is configured to dithered 24 bit. I use the Weiss DAC direct to power amps but have turn back it off quite a bit - Is the Amarra volume control any different to the Weiss in its design I cant evaluate it properly yet as the 57's are on holiday in rebuild island - but if any Amarra owners would like to try it out direct to power amps I would like to hear your views... http://www.weiss-highend.ch/computerplayback/Digital_Level_Control.pdf Cheers
13. Just a quickie about my lack of being a happy bunny with a number of software providers...now Mac OX snow leopard has been in the wings a long time...what i would expect is a clear statement of intent if the current software either will work with the new OX, or not or if a new update is required....I cant say I've been impressed with the clarity of fact when a new OX is available...what with hrs spent, install, undo....I'm just asking our computer audiophile software providers to be crystal clear please... 1. Put in on the site "yes" it works "no" is doesnt 2. Make its availble if an new driver etc is required (no hidden out of hours passwords please) 3. Make sure it works if it is available! Just my 2p worth....but communication is king here....££££ 's for software/DAC's ...I cant see its that difficult imho
14. Som nice new feature...I like the Genius playlist which by Genre which you can scroll though...the Album/Artist menu is now combined too....good moves imho
15. Installed the latest release of Amarra for Snow Leopard which has "remote" functionality that allows you to use the little plastic Apple remote to use for volume control. Its not working at all anyone got this up and running? Thanks
