  1. Thank you!!! So I should concentrate my search for an ADDA which has the feature of a direct pass-through of analog signals so that i can listen to my turntable without signal conversions. Any ideas for such ADDA?
  2. Hello, I am still searching for the right equipment and studying ... i have a related technical question to those audiophile ADDA converters. => I'd like to use this ADDA also as source switcher / monitor controller connceting my CD player, phono pre amp of turntable), and my laptop. => Furthermore, i want to connect my active speakers via balanced analog outputs of the ADDA As I have also my turntable + phono preamp as source, I won't need any conversion of the analog signal. I'd like to keep the analog signal so that the ADDA is only passing through the analog signal. Can I expect that all AD/DA converters with analog inputs have this feature? (I dont know the correct name for this feature) Thanks a lot!
  3. Thanks for the tip with Apogee Symphony!!! I checked the version 2x6! However, i am bit lost with the analog input. To connect my external phono pre-amp with the Symphony Energy 2x6, can i use somehow the analog female XLR-input? Sounds bit harsh to pay 1000bucks more for the 8x8 version to get only my turntable connected Sorry, I am an amateur
  4. Ahoy partisans, I got a lost in the jungle of upgrading my audio system. I was thinking about getting some active speakers. However, I wanted to listen music from different input sources and on different speakers. Reading about passive pre-amps, processors, monitor controllers… I got lost. Before deciding which audio devices I really need … is there a book (or even website) which you would recommend to read? I’d like to understand the basics, advantages, disadvantages, about … - Active, passive speaker types, - active, passive amplifier types, - everything about connections (speakers with monitor controllers / amplifiers; balanced vs unbalanced signals, analog vs optical connections,) - and answering questions like: what is a monitor controller, what is a processor, decompressor, etc. … explaining very simple for Amateurs like me Thanks a bunch! Marco
  5. @Harald: Thanks for the interesting insights in ME Geithain speakers. Why do you think they are less suitable than KH? I read in other forums that people prefer ME Geithain’s smallest speakers RL906 against KH 0300 because RL906 seems to be more detailed in the wide frequency range. But happy to hear your experiences. Thanks for the interesting insights in ME Geithain speakers. Why do you think they are less suitable than KH? 6. Ahoy partisans, I am looking forward to upgrade my (active) speaker system ) Main characteristics required: - quite compact & portable speakers; max weight ca 15kg per speaker (My office is small (7-10sqm) and I want to be flexible,) - I am interested in active speakers only. - I listen mainly to Reggae & World, and sometimes House / Trance music. So I will need a nice sounding bottom end and a perfect stereo imaging & depth - As my budget is around 3000-4500GBP (per pair), I will be very careful choosing and start test-listen different speakers. So far on my list: - PSI Audio A-21 M (known for their very clean & neutral sound & extreme flat frequence & perfect stereo imaging) - PMC TwoTwo 5, 6 (just came on the market few days ago; anybody experience?) - ME Geithain MO-2 Any other ideas of speakers to check out? Many thanks.
  7. @Charlotte: Do you think your Lynx Hilo sounds better than your Metric Halo? I have realised that u've the Hilo Second, I love the Lynx Hilo's feature of having a line mixer on board so that I can mix different input sources. Does the Metric Halo has the feature as well?
  8. Ahoy, i tried searching in the forum for some AD/DA threads but was not really successful. Apologies if similar story was already picked up earlier. I look for an audiophile AD / DA converter. Main connections required: 1 analog input (to connect phono preamp (from turntable)), 2 digital inputs (for CD player, Laptop) (I do not need any mic-pre-amps or any input channel for instruments) For now, i have seen only the following products in web search: Lynx Hilo, Antelope Orion32 Anything else what I should consider? Price: around 2500EUR; but thats flexible. I'd like to know beforehand what you have for experiences with ADDAs and will then decide how much I spend ) Many thanks indeed, Marco
  9. many thxs for your ideas. As the time of refund is expired; i m going to keep my Harman Kardon! I m not sure if they re as good as ur recommended genelecs ... but if not at least they win in extravagant design
  10. many thanks for the first ideas. - Amphion Ion: I’m scared of those negative reviews which I found for (reviews quite similar: “neither look nor sound like value for money”) - Maggie Mini: I read that the setup is complicated / different rooms different sound quality => doesn’t make sense in my case as I move frequently having different room sizes - headphones are not an alternative for myself; I travel with girlfriend ) More details to my current set up: Source: Macbook Pro USB cable: Audioquest Sydney DAC: KingRex UD-01 Pro Analog Cable: Audioquest Sydney Speaker: Harman Kardon GLA-55 => any recommendations for better audiophile (light weight) mini speakers than my GLA-55 on the market? (Price max. 3.000 EUR / USD)
  11. Ahoy partisans, I’m new on audiophile board but read for many weeks now your audiophile forum. I have been searching for an audiophile “Globetrotter” Mini Speaker System as I move several times per year to different countries => transport of heavy & big-size speakers not possible. I just bought the Harman Kardon GLA-55 for 800EUR. The sound is impressive for those small speakers. Can I assume that the sound can’t be better for those small speakers (if yes, I would no refund them ) or would you recommend me even any better audiophile small speakers? Yes, I would be ready to pay more ) (Mini speakers; max weight = 10kg; max size: 10” / 10” / 10”) Many thanks for any ideas! Best, Marco
