  1. Been there and done that. I think I'm going to reinstall the driver and see what turns up.
  2. Here's my panels... The difference I notice between yours and mine is my Wadia is showing up as speakers.(?)
  3. With regard to the automatic rate switching, it works fine when logged directly into the E45 PC. However, when remotely logged in, I do have to manually switch the rates. I feel like I've monkeyed with about everything in the sound panel there is. (I will say the Wadia doesn't have the panel to check the rate boxes...either directly or not.) Sheesh, I'll get there. VBR, rich
  4. I think we're good. Now to start fine tuning and loading the server. I can't say thanks enough - although I'm sure I'll have more questions. (Should we stop this thread and start a new? Or, keep this going as the questions come? I think this thread has served it's purpose) Rich
  5. Great news. When I didn't log in remotely, all was good. I went thru the test signals, and the Wadia picked it up accordingly. A couple of issues: A) I'm wondering if something happened by going thru the test signals because it seems like it's locked on whatever selection I last picked in the test signals. I could be full of crap on this but it seems so. B) Now I'm wondering how to attack doing this remotely. Thanks so much! I feel sort of stupid I didn't go non remote when it didn't work at first. Regards, Rich
  6. Guilty as charged! I should have been more specific on that and I'm sorry that I didn't. I was logging in remotely. I'll probably hit this tomorrow night, as I had to leave and get things done. Thanks so much for the help, and I'll let you know how it goes! Rich
  7. That was the good thing about starting with the wadia in the devices, right clicking a couple of times showed it was indeed the "remote device". I like your idea of a different USB port! Rich
  8. First off, thanks for the continued help. I'm in Hardware and Sounds / Sounds. I was in the Devices area as well because the Wadia is showing as an unspecified device, and I wasn't sure what to think of that. Either way, if we right click enough we end up at the same dialog box. The playback tab only shows 'Remote Device', and it has a check that it is the default device. The Controller Information is not available, nor is the jack information. Selecting Properties only allows me to change the icon, and my only other choice is to use the device or not. Rich
  9. Yes, that's how I get to the Sound Control Panel. I saw a issue in the device panel and reinstalled the drivers for the Wadia and the SOtM. Seems like I'm closer, but no cigar. The Wadia shows up in the device area, under "Unspecified". I did disable all other sound devices, and that didn't get me home either. The Wadia shows up as "Remote Device" in the Sound Control Panel. When I right click on it to put out a test, I get the message "failed to play a test tone". Onto JRiver clues... When using the WASAPI-Event Style, I get *Something went wrong with playback. Details: Playback could not be started on the output 'WASAPI - Event Style' using the format '44.1kHz 24bit 2ch'. This output format may not be supported by your hardware. You can use DSP Studio to change the output to a compatible format. * I'd love to know how to get the the menu in Sound where I can choose different sample rates and get this going. For now, I need to get some some other things done today. Rich
  10. I indeed have installed the Wadia driver. When I look in the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Devices and Printers, the Wadia is there. There is another device that is unknown and I'm wondering if that's the issue - whatever the unknown device may be. It's a system with really the only other item being the new sotm pci-e card. I do know the beeps are coming from the computer. I'm going into an old but fine JBL SA600, so no beeps coming from there. LOL rich
  11. ecwl, I am getting the occasional system beep - which is good I suppose. I was in Direct Mode instead of "WASAPI - Event Style". The WADIA DAC didn't come up as a choice, but "Remote Audio" does, decoding, via the front panel. This JRiver gig looks daunting to me. rich
  12. Hi Folks, Been lurking and planning for a bit. I was hoping for a different first post. Here's what I went with. Synology 212+ Asus E45 in a wasena case sotm pci-e USB Win 7 Ultimate JRiver Wadia 121 I'm trying to do baby steps and just get the Asus and the Wadia talking. I see jriver playing a sample file but no output is being heard on the system. After I get this going I'll advance to playing a non-sample file and using the synology. Any help would be most appreciated! Thanks much! rich
