  1. glory, I think these two units are very different and ones system --or what one may be willing to do to their system-- would dictate which is better. The Lampi is more analog, warm and rich and suited for a system with silver cables and well matched components. That is why I got rid of the L4, I was not in the position to re voice my system for it. But with that said, I did make a couple temporary cable changes right before selling it and could see how good it could of been, if I had the means to build around it... The AMR was a much better fit in my system. I feel it could more easily be dropped into a neutral system that has a few warm qualities. Cable matching was still key to bringing its musicality to the level of the Lamp and once there, I feel like it excelled in a few areas over the L4 and suited my tastes better...
  2. It definitely does. and its a statement to the Lampi that the OP puts the L2 right under the AMR. As mentioned, imagine if it was the L4 (or L4.5 now, i hear) that was compared.
  3. Hi, Yes, I tried the Lamp with both 24 bit and 16bit sources... I an breaking in the AMR now and am doing so with both 16 and 24 bit signals. My experience with the Lamp L4+ does not match up with most of the reviews --so there must of been something amiss-- but a few reviews do seem to put a lil bit of extra emphasis on system synergy. We all know it is important but some components it is more important than others... I do not want to take a way, or cast doubt on the joy people are experiencing with the Lamps, it just did not work in my system... OTOH the AMR is sublime.
  4. Great review(s). Your top two are interesting choices and proving that a home demo is crucial. I demoed a Lampizator L4+ (w/ upgraded tubes and Jensen caps), as well as an AMR DP-777... I bought the AMR. The Lamp fell flat in my system. It lacked depth and was extreamly out of balance (loose bass, low on detail and a lack of hi fq's). I feel there may have been something wrong with it. And indeed there may have been, since the unit arrived broken from shipping and had to go for a repair. So maybe it is not fair to judge what I herd. From the reviews --and the coments here-- it must of still been broken. Seriously. So don't judge it on my comments. The AMR on the other hand was nothing short of beautiful! compleat synergy in my system. It paints a landscape of sound. It's balance, neutrality and realism has transformed my listening. It seems to pick up on the intended nuances of the recording and delivers everything just right. I will disagree regarding its looks and think it is just as beautiful looking as it sounds. I went for black but like it just as well in its champagne silver. Different strokes is all. Thanks for your reviews.
  5. Thanks Damien, Sounds like I can leave it in the big system running to my integrated's direct input while leaving the tubes off! This is indeed good news. I had gotten conflicting reports on the amp needing to be on or off. Thanks again
  6. Guess I should of put this in the burn-in thread I found.... But no matter, I have decided to run the unit in my lil tv room system for a few weeks on the solid state gear for proper break-in and to not put all the hours on my tubes. Sorry for the unesisary postings. It's usually how I enter a new place
  7. Hello all, My DP-777 just arrived! I did an in-home demo of a completely broken-in unit the other week, so I know the magic it is capable of! My question is does anyone have any suggestions for the break-in process??? For now I will be using both tubed BNC ins. And plan on running a signal through each, one at a time, using a moded squeeze box unit, swapping back and forth. I was thinking 8 hours on, and few hours off type of cycle and doing this with my Ayon Triton II integrated OFF... Will this do? Do I need to do a break-in on all inputs I will use? Can the Amp stay off for all this? I will entertain braking in the pre section at a later date. If anyone has any suggestions or a more efficient way, please let me know. Thanks so much Jason
