  1. Thx. Exactly what you expect at this level. Relatively small differences, but once you have experienced them it is difficult to take a step back....
  2. The honest answer is that I don't know. Personally, I would never do it without first hearing the MU2 in my own system.
  3. An alternative: sell the MMT while it still has a good resale value and buy an MU2. Here in the Netherlands I see a trend of DAVE/MU1 and MMT/MU1 combinations for sale with the argument of purchasing the MU2.
  4. I do find the title of this article a bit misleading given the highly subjective nature of the content.
  5. Tip: do not share the power supply for the EtherRegen with the TP-link.
  6. A counter-narrative. In my system, the MU1 (not the MU2, hope to demo it soon) definitely sounded better with an isolation transformer. In a setup where the DAC and amplifier are also behind the IT and the three components were together on a power distributor with star wiring (everything on a dedicated power line). I also cannot agree with people who say that the MU1 is insensitive to the incoming Ethernet signal. In my system I heard differences between Ethernet cables, but especially a significant improvement with opticalRendu/etherREGEN/very good LPS's between router and MU1. I expect this will be no different for the MU2.
  7. I agree, speakers, the listening room and acoustics of the room are very important factors. But I hear similar differences in my headphone setup.
  8. Thank you for your story. You should definitely try the 205 with a good power supply. Compared to the included switched-mode power supply this transforms the DAC to a whole new level. I have very good results with the Uptone Audio JS-2. I still plan to test the Ferrum Hypsos that I now use on the EtherREGEN. However, a good A/B comparison is then not possible because this swap changes the chain. A while ago the Hypsos replaced the JS-2 as the power supply for the EtherREGEN because it was slightly better.
  9. A follow-up to my own post. I still can't wrap my head around why this DAC sounds so good. Does anyone else have similar experiences with this generation of Weiss DACs (DAC501, DAC502, DAC204, DAC205)? According to the dealer, they all use exactly the same D/A technology. I realize that the DAC205 is not a budget solution (2.5K) but for someone who already has a high-end power supply and a streamer with a good S/PDIF implementation it can be a very interesting option! It delivers the same or arguably even better performance (depending on the quality of the power supply) than the much more expensive 501 and 502 models (10K).
  10. I bought this DAC for a second system based on good reviews (especially of the DAC204; essentially the same unit but with extra DDC functions) but also on a gut feeling. I used it temporarily in my main system where a Chord DAVE normally plays. As power supply for the Weiss I use an Uptone JS-2 at 9V. Source/streamer is a dCS Network Bridge. After a few days of playing and switching back and forth a few times - I almost dare not say it - I prefer the DAC205 to the DAVE! Simply more involving and emotional. Without downsides. Really. I didn't expect this at all. I have had quite a few other DACs in my system, but none of them could compete with DAVE. My idea was that the Weiss would compromise on sound staging and timbre and be leaner. Maybe it's because of system matching. Ultimately I wanted to combine the Weiss with a Lindemann Limetree Bridge II in a second system, but I'm not so sure about that at the moment.
  11. The problem is that your contributions are often unfounded. How can you say that product X, which is not even on the market yet (if it ever will), is better than product Y? Do you have shares in Taiko or otherwise affiliated?
  12. I can highly recommend the Grimm Audio SQM RCA.
  13. Particularly interested in your findings with the dCS Lina Network DAC. Especially as a DAC/Streamer combination. Steve Huff in his review preferred the internal streamer of the Lina vs. going external via the Grimm Audio MU1! dCS has its stuff in order.
  14. You've been saying this for two or three years but to my knowledge there are no signs of a mini extreme. The wish is the father of the thought.... :)
