  1. Thank you 1.5 Good idea. Do you think it's possible to do that in two command types? All 24/88.2, 24/176.4 to 16/44.1 and all 24/96, 24/192 to 16/48 without me going into a program or menu to change that? And while giving native 16/44.1 a pass through untouched? I was hoping to use a windows 10 tablet with usb out. Will one of those two programs run in the background while Tidal, my ripped cd's and downloaded music serve? I'm really looking for set and forget. They look like very intensive programs that do an aweful lot of stuff I don't need. Maybe like buying full Photoshop just to sort my photo's by file size. Anyone heard of a program a little intensive? thanks
  2. I'm looking for a very small converter (halide bridge, m2tech hiface, matrix,...) that can down sample all hi-res to 44.1 or 48 with the utmost care but leave native redbook as is untouched into a very much loved older 16/44.1 16/48 dac. I will go for a bigger usb-spdif converter if necessary for sound quality though if needed. I was hoping for a set it and forget it type of installation where I would not have to go into a menu each time a 24/96 track comes up after playing 16/44.1 after awhile. Any ideas? This is all to be able to keep using my classic RedBook dac. Thanks in advance
  3. Thank you francis66. Yes I am hoping for the PUC2 to accept 16/44.1 on it's AES digital input and reclock or retime so that transport quality becomes relatively moot.
  4. Hi Were you using the SPDIF or USB out from the Touch into the PUC2? What did you think of the sound differences when using the Touch with the PUC2 vs. without?
  5. Hi Has anyone had any experience with using the Yellowtec PU2 between a CD Transport and Dac? I will soon be using the Yellowtec's USB input from a computer but was wondering if the Yellowtec would reclock or retime the 16/44.1 signal from a cheaper cd transport so as to improve the digital input to a quality dac? I believe natively the PUC2 only takes 16/48 over it's AES input but with custom Asio drivers it will take 16/44.1. thanks in advance.
  6. The one converter I was hoping to hear a little more about is the Yellowtec PUC2. By some accounts it has bettered the BADA as a USB/AES interface but also acts as a A/D for digitizing vinyl/tape. It is quite difficult to get where I am so I was hoping to have a few comparisons to the above mentioned converters before jumping through hoops to buy it.
  7. Still hoping for a short review and especially comparing it to the Audio-gd. I'm assuming by your above comments that Bada is better but perhaps, in what ways and by how much.
  8. Hi Guydebord Could you tell a little about the computer transport you used and if you tried the spdif input as well with a cd transport? The reason I ask specifically about your computer set-up is because I have read that some have had problems running the newer firmware with certain computer transports (ie Logitech Touch with EDO,..) and had to revert to an older firmware where the usb stream was not under asynchronous protocol but adaptive. thanks in advance.
  9. Elberoth Have you specifically tried the Musical Fidelity V-Link 192 or the Audio-gd DI-V3? thanks.
  10. Hi Elberoth Thank you for taking your time to write up this great article. You mention that you tried some 15+ different usb to spdif converters and you would write up about it if there was interest. I am really interested in the different converters you tried and the results. I am sure there are many others that would also be interested in your observations. I am going to computer audio but would like to keep an inexpensive cd transport for occasional cd play for non-serious listening. I was particularly thinking about the Stello cdt100 that you picture and mention. I know it is inexpensive but how close does it get to the best there is in cd transports? Is it even sort of close? Is there something you have tried that is inexpensive but very capable? thanks in advance
  11. I am looking to run a computer based set-up along side a cd transport. Is there any USB to SPDIF converters that also have a SPDIF input to reclock a transports signal? Something like the old Genesis digital lens used to do. I assume most of whats needed is already in the unit (i.e. dedicated to creating a pristine spdif signal already from usb). Could it not be easy to help clean spdif input as well? 16/44.1 is really all I'm interested in. The Legato would be perfect if it had a spdif input as well.
