  1. FYI, can do poly-sinc-gauss-xla with ASDM7ECv2 16/44.1 to DSD256 adaptive rate on Mac Studio M1Max at around 40% CPU. That is my preferred set up with Holo May DAC. Can’t do DSD512 with that HQP/ M1Max setup.
  2. @Miska, would you please comment on the suitability of the Mac Studio with M1 Max and M1 Ultra for HQP upsampling to DSD512?

Yes Jud, in the absence of better insight from elsewhere, that is also my hypothesis. In the absence of dispersion by the cross-over/ speaker, the dispersion caused by minimum phase filters becomes obvious and the advantages of such filters are swamped to my ears by that downside. I am interested in your findings on the various versions of poly-sinc*. I keep returning to short vs others even though I was swayed by xtr for a short while. I upsample all files to 768 to my Phasure NOS1a rather than stick to auto rate family...but could not do that with xtr because of the initialisation time so that might have some impact if that DAC clock is for some reason superior to the 44.1 family clock which came to be used with xtr. Jud, I am interested in your comments about linear filters. I have Vandersteen speakers and have long found that minimum phase filters cause the image to smear significantly vs linear. Basically I can't listen that way. It may be because of my speakers and/or because imaging is important to my listening. I was initially captivated by xtr filters but over time found that the music was missing something compared to poly sinc short and am now happily back there. Do you have any insights in that regard with your setup? Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile
  5. John, thanks for the education, which I find extremely valuable. I have two UpTone products...JS-2 with linear fan controller and Regen. I also use these products on power supplies to Amp, DAC, AV Processor, etc.... https://www.arraysolutions.com/Array-Solutions/ac-7a I have had them for a long time, and back then they seemed to make a positive difference, and have not tried removing them. Do you have any advice for us on whether these should theoretically be a positive or a negative and how they should impact on the system. Thanks for your expertise and advice. Regards Peter
  6. Interested in this posted to Australia. Happy to do that? Approx cost including postage? How would you like to be paid?
  7. I prefer upsampling to 768 (2-wire setting) mostly using HQP's polysinc (linear, apodising), but sometimes find closed-form upsampling to 705/768 superior with good recordings (especially some hi-res recordings). I'm not sure that any of those setting are specific to the NOS1a though.
  8. I am certainly one of those and find the quality of that combination, now with Roon, to be absolutely outstanding.
