  1. According to the unofficial DR database, Piece of Mind and Number of the Beast 96/24 downloads are both reporting DR6. The original CDs are in the DR13 range.
  2. I'll vote for some Buddy Guy 24-bit titles...especially "A Man And The Blues". And if available, 24-bit versions of all the Mississippi John Hurt titles!!!
  3. Hey Alex; I'll inject my two cents worth into this 'conversation' just to say that your suggestions toward obtaining higher quality rips are quite valid, at least based on my own observations using the exact same drive, and having employed similar techniques to significantly reduce vibration, etc. I haven't yet added a linear power supply for my Icy Box enclosure, but I'm currently exploring that possibility as well. Based on the outcomes of other previous threads here, it is probably best to leave the naysayers on their own signal path... Trevor
  4. I also used the LG GGW-H20L drive extensively for more than 5 years, and it worked flawlessly in a Raidsonic Icy Box IB-550 external USB enclosure. I only stopped using it just recently, as my new Windows 7 Pro 64 machine had trouble recognizing it (LG didn't release Windows 7 compatible drivers for it). It seems to work just fine with the iMac platform, though. I've since moved to the new LG BH16NS40 model for my Windows setup, and it too seems to be a good drive.
  5. I have the silver version of the Woo Audio stand, and I am very happy with it. It looks very nice and the build quality is quite solid. The stand is also height adjustable.
  6. The DR on the YHF 96/24 is slightly higher than the CD. Average DR of 10, versus 9 for the CD.
  7. Hi Picklgreen; Just curious...was this article the 'source' of your information? High Definition iTunes Music Downloads May Be on the Horizon - Mac Rumors
  8. FWIW, I posted an inquiry over on SH.tv, and one person responded that the Pat Benatar releases should be avoided, indicating dull sound and compressed with DR in the 8 to 9 range. The original early CDs typically have DR in the 12 to 14 range.
  9. Mr. Scott; I see you wish to continue uttering slurs and insults, as you've chosen to do with other members of this community in several other threads. I have much better things to do with my time than to converse with you. My only reason for involving myself in this thread, and the above referenced WAV / FLAC metadata thread, was to provide correction to your inaccurate comments. As for placing me on your 'Ignore' list, that is 100% fine with me. Have a good day.
  10. Mr Scott; This is the second time in a week you have claimed that the source file from HDtracks is FLAC, and in-turn is converted to the buyer's format of choice. When you made the original claim, I asked you for the source of the information, but you chose not to answer. So I ask again, what is your source for this claim? To refresh your memory, please refer to this post: http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f13-audiophile-downloads/why-not-chose-wav-files-hdtracks-if-they-are-available-19110/#post292170 I chose to contact HDtracks support directly on this matter. Here is the response... "Thank you for your question. 99% of the time the files originate from WAV files (from the record label), and are converted to the customers' preferred format via the HDtracks download manager. For the other 1% of the time, some labels choose to send the masters to us in FLAC format. In these rare cases, the files originate as FLAC and are converted accordingly." Based on the very clear HDtracks response, your apparent supposition appears to be accurate only about 1% of the time. Trevor
  11. ++++++++1 I couldn't possibly agree more. On the whole, this site has unfortunately taken on a sour tone in recent months. There have been several other recent threads that were just as ridiculous as this embarrassment. Your comments WRT optimizing the AC chain are also 100% consistent with my own experiences. However, I wouldn't even consider attempting to have an open dialog about such things around here. Cheers, Trevor
  12. Thanks for the info. I was never a big fan of the surround mix, so it's safe to assume that I would be no fonder of the stereo mix. Looks like the Japan EMI Black Triangle CD will continue to be my reference.
  13. The Wish List feature hasn't been working correctly for me either. The only item that shows up in my list is a title I added a couple months ago. Since then I've attempted to add another few titles, but they do not display in the list. What's even more baffling is that the 'My Wishlist' link on the main page indicates that 3 items are in my list (i.e. it shows My Wishlist (3 Items) in the header).
  14. Hmmmm...I will have to take another look at it as well. The DVD-A extractor program I used must have ignored that folder, I suppose. Thanks.
