  1. Thanks for encouraging me to do that. Followed these guides and it wasn't too hard to 'downgrade' to 11.4 at all. Now have the artist information back in Remote. Cheers.
  2. Thanks for checking. I'm hopeful that Apple will resolve it at some point - I may be naïve, but my assumption is that it would be a small tweak to the software, given that it is (a) just putting back something that used to be there, and (b) relies on data that is quite clearly available to the Remote app. The fact that they are updating the Remote app gives me hope. Sadly I think downgrading iTunes is beyond me. I worry too much that something would go wrong that would result in a situation far worse than not being able to see the album artist info until Apple sort it out!
  3. thanks. That will be interesting. The conclusion in the earlier discussion was that it is an iTunes 12 issue. Sadly i did "upgrade" to 12 and there is no easy way of going back.
  4. Thanks for replying. That's weird. Yes, that's exactly how Album view used to look like on my Remote app before the iTunes & Remote app updates. But since the updates the name of the artist under each album has disappeared. All the albums are sorted by artist, as they always have been, as you suggest. They appear in Album view in artist order. What version of iTunes are you using? And what version of Remote?
  5. Doesn't seem to have done anything to fix the problem discussed in this thread - the fact that there is no artist information visible in Album view in the remote app on an ipad. (See the screen shots above.) i've updated itunes, deleted the old REmote app, restarted the ipad, reinstalled the app. Still no artist information.
  6. Sadly, doesn't seem to have done anything for the problem of disappeared artist information in Album view. Curses.
  7. Anyone have anything further on this issue? My Remote app still not showing artist information. Was really hoping for an Apple fix by now.
  8. In a way I'm pleased that others have this fault. I thought I was going mad. Now at least I know I'm not suffering alone. I also suspect that the answer above is right - that it's an Apple issue associated with a failure to ensure that iTunes 12 work properly with Remote on the iPad. And like you, I would dearly love an alternative to Apple's Remote.
  9. Thanks for your reply - and the fact that it's still working for you gives me hope. Could you explain what you mean by using the album artist field? i have tried turning off home sharing, shutting down itunes and the mac mini, deleting the Remote app & re-installing it. Many thanks.
  10. . Thanks, tried that too. No luck.
  11. that would be really bizarre. I can't believe that even Apple would decide that people no longer want to see the name of the band, singer etc in album view. (It doesn't even appear when an album is selected.) i suspect it may have something to do with the new colour scheme in iTunes 12. All the artists' names are now in light grey. I wonder if this has caused an issue with the Remote app. Though after a lot of trawling online. I seem to be the only person howling in rage and despair.
  12. I use Apple's Remote app on an iPad to control iTunes on a headless Mac Mini. Out of the blue the other day it no longer has any artist information in album view. (I prefer to use album view to scroll through albums.) This is bizarre. It cannot have been triggered by an iTunes update, as I have automatic updating switched off. And I'm pretty sure that the app was not updated on the ipad. I did update the iPad to the latest software, but that was a few weeks ago. I have tried everything I can think of to get the information back, to no avail. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. I know all the data is still there, because all the artist information on the ARtist tab is fine.
  13. Thanks again for these suggestions. I am going to get an old CD player out and try that in the system. some of the comments above lead me to worry that the source of the problem is a mismatch between the output of the DAC, and the input sensitivity of the amplifier. (Please excuse me if that is complete rubbish!) The maximum output level on the Rega DAC is stated to be 2.175V into 100Kohm load in the manual. I'm using the balanced input to the amp, which according to the manual is 560mV. Could this be the source of the problem? Another thing I might try is using the standard unbalanced connection, which has an input sensitivity of 280mV.
