I have downloaded all 4 Madonna albums from HDTracks @ 24/96. All four albums sound great and are very flat/neutral in their presentation especially Like a Virgin. I am guessing the source of these albums has something to do with the release of the recent Madonna vinyl boxset which may have been produced from new or existing 24/192 digital masters (the CD versons just seems to be a re-package). Fairly certain with the exception of Like a Virgin they were recorded in analogue and it is well documented Like a Virgin was mixed down to a 14bit Sony PCM-1 from a Sony 3324 multi-tracker. Having looked at the graphs they all have the same spike at 28khz which people on this forum have put down to the tape machine which seems to suggest the same source machine for all four - is it possible an analogue master was made of Like a Virgin for vinyl pressing back in 1984 ? Wish there was a bit more information on the sources to clarify.
