Comical. Spend a lot of money on a speaker with conventional ordinary direct radiating mid-range cone which will spray frequencies all around walls, floor, ceiling and then install acoustics to absorb the resulting distorted frequencies. The distorted frequencies are still there and dynamics are now reduced.

Article: A Trip To McIntosh in NYC
buffalobill replied to The Computer Audiophile's topic in Article Comments
Impressive audio gear, no doubt. But there are more people who visit my local Apple store in one hour than usually attend one of these McIntosh events. -
Apple Music & Sonos
buffalobill replied to realhifi's topic in Networking, Networked Audio, and Streaming
I have also found the integration between Sonos and Apple Music easy and convenient. However, I now have three possible libraries to maintain which I don't find easy and convenient. I don't want to have playlist listings in iTunes, Apple Music, and Sonos. -
Apple Music & Sonos

Apple Music Sonos controller only available on iPhone/iPad. -
As a consumer, I can' ignore all the consistent articles written by audio engineers at McIntosh, Bryston, Ayre, Benchmark, Berkeley, Daniel Hertz, Dan Lavry, and several others that PCM is better than DSD. Unless one's hearing is impaired the notion that some audiophile bloggers can hear things other audiophiles can't hear is just self-serving and total baloney.

Marantz or McIntosh? Timex or Rolex? Chevy or Lexus? Duh.

Does High Resolution Audio sound better
buffalobill replied to The Computer Audiophile's topic in General Forum
Thanks for providing. Consistent with previous articles. I want the best sound from my audio system so I am staying with 16/44.1 (PCM). -
Interesting discussion but as an consumer audiophile I have no control over the mastering process, regardless of the various definitions of "is". If I want to listen to my favorite artists I have to buy what they produce. I always learn from Barry's comments but this seems to be an issue best debated within the industry.

DSD: Explain it to me because I'm not getting it
buffalobill replied to blownsi's topic in DAC - Digital to Analog Conversion
Paul, I love to look at beautiful women but don't ask me to describe one. However, they are going to look the same whether or not I can describe them or not. PCM or DSD? If they are engineered correctly and the same binary content is there they are going to same the same. -
DSD: Explain it to me because I'm not getting it
buffalobill replied to blownsi's topic in DAC - Digital to Analog Conversion
Agree, it is the same sound whether I like it or not. Perception doesn't change the sound, however. The musical content is either there or it isn't. If someone's hearing is normal he is going to hear the same sound as anyone else, although he may not prefer it. -
DSD: Explain it to me because I'm not getting it
buffalobill replied to blownsi's topic in DAC - Digital to Analog Conversion
That is because you have a medical adversity, just like I said in my post. But just because you can't see without your glasses doesn't mean an object isn't there. By contrast, just because someone doesn't need glasses to see doesn't enable them to see something that isn't there. In audio, 'talking heads' generally claim to hear something that isn't there. -
DSD: Explain it to me because I'm not getting it

Over the years I have never understood statements like this. It is as if mankind development of ears has resulted in different hearing capacities (not withstanding adverse medical conditions). The sound coming from an audio system is the same regardless of who is listening to it. It is either there are it isn't there. -
He sells a 16/44.1 for $15, a 24/192 for $45. I wonder which one he is going to support?
