  1. I've only ever transferred a few albums at a time manually and havent had a problem once I got the unit connected to the network appropriately. On a separate note, this is a stellar player. One of the most significant upgrades to my 2 channel or headphone system in a long time. The reason I havent transferred any large amounts of music is I am stuck listening, and relistening to some of my classics. They sound that good! Soundstage, imaging (3D), tone, PRAT, engagement all blow my PWDII/mac mini and Peachtree Grand Pre x1 out of the water. Beyond that its just not fatiguing in any way which I have always had a problem with. Ill likely pick up another, its that good. Scott
  2. Received my player this week from Music Direct. Hefty product, high exterior quality. Sounds great so far on the limited files I was able to transfer it. I am moving DSD files from a Macbook Pro (10.8.5) using the Sony HAP app and it frequently times out and loses the connection on the 30 or so files I tried to transfer. It got about halfway through and now I am no longer able to even "find" the player with the app on my laptop or the iphone app. The player is connected to the internet wirelessly. And both units have been powered on and off and the app deleted and reinstalled. Any thoughts? Impressive unit, growing pains I am sure...
  3. Electrical noise should be pretty low correct being SSD and Liion (DC) power correct? It would be used as a local music source. Not a true household server. I would import files wireless from my NAS or via USB. It would be used only to feed the DAC in my listening room. Convenience aside, musically it should perform the same as an upgraded Mini with similar spec'd software, SSD, and DC power correct?
  4. Hi All, Long time reader, first time thread starter. I've read the past threads on why the Air has not worked out for some but with the arrival of the new 2013 Macbook Air, and an improvement in many base features, would it be a suitable music only server and otherwise comparable to a 2013 Mini? Mini or Air I need a Mac server for the 2ch listening room (running a 2011 Mini on the headphone station). It will be a dedicated unit running Audirvana and USB based DAC. Software otherwise optimized for music only. With all that has been written about the modding the Mini it seems to me that the Air can come "modded" out of the box (SSD, 8gb ram, DC power, thunderbolt). So why bother with the hassle of converting a Mini to SSD and DC when the Air already is? Thanks in advance, Scott
  5. Actually, my question is more that since I download files from HD Tracks and BW Society of Sound (24bit flacs) to a separate folder my laptop, and import them via Puremusic to iTunes, can the shared drive on a headless mini that doesnt have these files physically on it still play them? Just now quite sure how that works... Thanks!
  6. Great thread, very helpful. I have a question though, how does pure music and also HD files imported into pure music on a separare machine work on a headless mini? Does file sharing work for them too? My MBP is currently working as the central media station but must live by the DAC when listening. I'd love a more permanent setup with a mini that's sole job is music but would prefer to manage it all off the MBP. Thanks! Scott
